For anyone watching Sporting CP, does Diomande play exclusively as a CB or does he also play as a DM occasionally? How has he been this season?

Completely unrelated but I just watched the COPA90 doc on Betis that featured Bellerin, and it really made me wonder how good he could have been.

That knee injury ruined him, and he wasn’t done any favors playing in those Emery, Covid Arteta teams. He’s one of my favorite Arsenal players ever and it hurts to wonder how it would’ve turned out if the didn’t tear up his knee in what was a very good season for him.

It would entirely depend on how well coached he was and in what areas.

Bellerin had a couple of big problems, he wasn’t great at either end of the pitch. Transitionally, best in the world potential, but he had poor end product and defensively he wasn’t great. His speed was obviously his greatest facet which papered over a lot of cracks, especially defensively; his recovery speed was otherworldly, like Walker really.

After months in the summer of not being convinced of a TP5 replacement, I think i finally have that name in mind, after which I truly believe i will not miss PArtey. And that is…wait for it…Amadou Onana.

I ve been watching him play on and off this season for Everton, and he has been very very good. Great passing, dribbling, and physicality (even better than rice I would say). He ofcourse needs to be more consistent, and learn better positional play, but he has me convinced. I hope we go for it in the summer window, as I doubt Everton would ever consider selling in Jan…

Edit: comp of his last game against West Ham https://twitter.com/RegistaCall/status/1718685906758951263

Does anyone have a high quality team pic of the first choice 11 that we were starting last year? Digital wallpapers or anything that i could put up as a poster in my room would be nice.

Reports (grain of salt) that Chelsea want Diomande and Wirtz as their final peices for squad. If you’re Wirtz or Diomande, and you’re watching what’s happening at Chelsea are you really interested in that project?

I wonder how much that’s changed given their inability to score goals.

Chelsea is expected to buy sporting too and turn it into a feeder club. So diamonde to arsenal will be difficult next year.it is really hard to compete with clubs under multi club ownership structure in long run.

      “Wanna join Chelsea?”

      “No”

      “Here’s £300k pounds a week for 6+ years”

      “Go blues”

Players usually don’t have this kind of reason. They want the bag. Leverkusen and Sporting too are after the highest bidder .

Plus, that’s not the full list. They need Toney too.

It’s Diomande for Silva, Writz for the same reason we first bought Odegaard, and Toney for calm in those final third spaces and playing in their wingers.

Biggest indicator of a team being in the trenches is when they start comparing their manager to Arteta and his slow start at Arsenal, without using any context

Arteta has plan for years. When we are learning our system, the manager must be strong on how he wanted to play the football. Even when we are losing, we are learning. We keep playing that style of football even when it cost us the win. It is not a problem because we are learning.

Second thing is, when we were losing during learning phase, there will be outside voice. Voice of people who don’t understand why we keep doing even when we lose. Manager must keep strong on his believe on the style. Not reverting to the comfort zone.

ETH, did not do this during learning phase. He keep reverting to the comfort zone (counter attacking football), whenever they feel they cannot do it. This is bad for learning and didn’t promote growth. Only promote doubt for the system.

Do not compare ETH and Arteta. Durinh learning phase, Arteta never lose faith in the way we play even when we face loses. We learn, we grow. The arsenal now would not exist without the lost on the seasons below. People must understand that

Early Arteta years were pretty bad but the big difference between that and Ten Hag/other managers is probably in terms of what their communication with the owners/board is like. We couldn’t see it but it is clear in hindsight that Arteta had a clear plan from the start ant the board was in the loop throughout. Quotes like “we’ll never play football like Ajax” does not give confidence that the manager is still following his plan.

One thing I love watching from outside my club is how fans turn on managers that could have helped lol. They did well last season and if it takes one fall to get rid of a manager, I’m all for it. That club hurt my feelings for a while and they deserve instability lol.

They have problems that are clearly visible and can be solved.

Ten Hag’s problem so far is talent ID but even with his scraps, he has the right ideas.

Calling them “third” kits is probably misleading at this stage. They’re a marketing thing for adidas and they’ll want all three kits to get sufficient air time to drive sales.

The highlighter kit is the way it is to target a particular customer. The “third” kit is targeting the other type of customer. They want to sell to both and associating the kit with positive memories is what will drive sales the most so it needs air time.

The “third” kit was marketed as the European kit on release so I think the plan was always to wear it in away CL games.

There are no PL teams that we would need to wear it against as our yellow kit is so distinctive.

Havertz has been a better CF than Hojlund so far this season. Yes it’s a hot take, but stats don’t lie and fucking Kai handed us the shovel to bury city

They’re not much better than last season, they’re playing similarly and it’s not much Pottechino’s fault their players just aren’t as good as their fans think their quality is similar to when we finished 8th a few years ago. Villa Newcastle and Brighton have better players. But 12th is not good enough for their standard of players if they improve their finishing then they’ll get top half
