Look I’m a City fan, but even I can see the media has gone over the top today. The managers United have had should have achieved more but it seems the system is broken.

I tend to agree with Goldbridge in thinking what comes after Ten Hag?

He is a good coach. Even asking this is dumb and shows that most football fans can’t analyze situations for themselves!

He’s not a bad manager. I just don’t think he was ready for the United move. The job is a poison chalice. But you can only blame that so much. He also has his share of the blame for how bad United are doing.

He’s made those signings, they’ve all been pretty bad. He’s spent a fortune. He doesn’t seem to have been able to implement his philosophy. Some of his signings I really don’t understand (mount). A lot of the problems they are having are down to him.

But sacking him is not the answer. Because if not him, who? They sack him, it will be the same old shit in a year. They need a full rebuild, with a proper structure. Scouts. competent DoF and probably to change the philosophy of their signings. Whoever is in charge will need at least a couple of years.

A lot of the problems seem to be behind the scenes. Unless they are fixed, United will keep running into the same issues. I think the priority will be to get rid of the problem players and in the meantime rebuild the backroom staff from the Director of Football down to the ground staff, and you know… not throw your staff under the bus. Have good personalities and instil a culture that befits the club. Fan engagement need to be improved, as long as they feel involved and can see that the club is going in the right direction they will accept not winning cups and titles for a while.

    Yes he is that bad

We’ve seen managers come into a club and within the space of a few months set up a system of play and an identity which gets both fan and player buy in. Ange at Spurs, Emery at Villa, O’Neil at Wolves, De Zerbi at Brighton etc.

Meanwhile United still look like 11 individuals running about every week, relying on individual moments and player quality, you almost never see United scoring team goals, there just isn’t the brains behind it.

And that is after a full season under Ten Hag, so when you add that to that his comments about not having the players he needs to play his style, when he’s signed loads of ‘his players’, he is just out of his depth.

Its nothing to do with the ownership, that is a seperate issue.

The issue for United is if they do sack Ten Hag which i assume will happen at some point this season, they are lumbered with a bunch of players who they paid top dollar for and who you assume future managers won’t want, Antony, Onana, Mount etc.

    Its just a basketcase

ETH apologists often reference how Man utd has had past managers that weren’t successful and that it’s not the manager and that it’s the structure, recruitment, other world class managers like Pep couldn’t fix man utd etc. and they’re part right but also very wrong at the same time. Thing is, man utd’s manager recruitment is crap as well and that’s including ETH. Tell me any manager after SAF that has left man utd and has gone on to bigger and better things? Moyes? LVG? Jose? Ole? None of those have proven anything after leaving man utd and I don’t think ETH will either. Man was fortunate to have an Ajax golden generation of talents pumped out right at the time he got there.

Man utd may be a mess at a board level however as a manager you should still be able to develop a certain style of play especially after spending half a billion in 1.5 years on players he insisted on. He’s been nothing short of a fraud so far.

You ask If the manager that breaks negative records every other week and buys mid table quality players for world class quality prices is bad? Nah, he is doing great.

I think he’s pretty arrogant and it’s clear he’s in over his head. His insistence on buying Eredivisie players and expecting them to waltz into the most competitive league in the world is evidence of that. Antony might be the worst signing in PL history. That’s no one’s fault but ETH’s.

Van Gaal, Mourinho and Ole all had competitive United teams that could at least cause City trouble. They were sacked unfairly imo.

Van Gaal finished 4th and 5th (joint points with City but behind on GD) and won the FA Cup.

Mourinho finished 2nd behind a dominant City team but got stabbed in the back by the players.

Ole’s “mistake” was the return of Ronaldo which pushed new signing Sancho to the bench and knocked the confidence of Rashford and Co. United were at least competitive.

Ten Hag has signed his own players that he knows from the Dutch league and United look as bad as they were during the Moyes tenure. They’ve been battered by Liverpool and Man City on more than one occasion. They’ve been lucky in games they’ve won like Brentford, Nottingham and Sheffield. He’s clearly not good enough.

Finally someone with facts. Jose being the most likely to have challenged Klopp and Pep was stabbed in the back by Pogba, Shaw, Rashford, Martial and ripped to shreds by the so called class of 92 because he “couldn’t” get the best out of average players who were then later on shipped out by his predecessors.

He sussed Rashford and Shaw out pretty early on. Same with Martial. I remember Jose getting absolutely hammered for going to Anfield and coming back with a 0-0 draw. Got hammered by class of 92 for reacting to a Rashford miss when it was easier to score.

These players have been pampered for far too long and although they’re a big part of the problem, Ten Hag just doesn’t have the minerals to challenge Klopp and Pep, in fact, Postecoglu, Thomas Frank, De Zerbi, Emery and Howe are all better than him.

We could’ve bought Maddison on the cheap, he went for Mount. Harvey Barnes, Anthony Gordon and Doku are players we could’ve got, he chose Antony. I hate the term but Ten Hag has no talent ID and he’s living off that one Ajax CL campaign which he still managed to bottle against perennial bottlers, Tottenham.

      Sack him

    Liverpool fan for transparency.

No. There are a half dozen reasons for United being where they are.

The manager is low on that list.

He’s not amazing clearly, but changing manager again is just that definition of madness thing.

Trying the same thing again and again, expecting a different outcome.
