Bet there’s many more footballers out there that suffer from some kind of addiction but are reluctant to come forward.

Aguero and Romario - No bonus points for this but they were both short, stocky and scored quite a lot of goals.

Neymar and Ronaldinho - Both skilful Brazilian wingers who played with Messi at Barcelona, they both played for PSG and they also like to party. They also only peaked for 5 years max. They both could’ve achieved so much more even with all the trophies they won.

Zabaleta and Zanetti - Both dependable right backs from Argentina who just got on with their jobs. Zanetti was obviously the better of the two but both similar styles.

David Beckham and David Bentley (lol) - They were both free kick specialists but one just gave up on their career it seems. More of a joke one.

Messi and Maradona - doesn’t really need talking about this one.

Van Gaal, Mourinho and Ole all had competitive United teams that could at least cause City trouble. They were sacked unfairly imo.

Van Gaal finished 4th and 5th (joint points with City but behind on GD) and won the FA Cup.

Mourinho finished 2nd behind a dominant City team but got stabbed in the back by the players.

Ole’s “mistake” was the return of Ronaldo which pushed new signing Sancho to the bench and knocked the confidence of Rashford and Co. United were at least competitive.

Ten Hag has signed his own players that he knows from the Dutch league and United look as bad as they were during the Moyes tenure. They’ve been battered by Liverpool and Man City on more than one occasion. They’ve been lucky in games they’ve won like Brentford, Nottingham and Sheffield. He’s clearly not good enough.

People jumping the gun here. It’s a nice tribute to begin with. For all we know, he’ll receive a bigger tribute in years to come. Napoli didn’t change the name of their stadium until Maradona died. It’s always a risk paying tribute to someone in any profession to a large scale before they’ve passed incase they do something absolutely insane like murder, sexual assault, etc. Not saying Gundogan will because he seems like a decent man but other players have.

Let’s be realistic, where would all that money Chelsea spent on players go if they didn’t spend it? To the fans? To the community? No. It would still be in the bank account of a billionaire. If they want to splash £100m on a single player from a club deemed smaller, then I don’t see the issue. A club like Brighton can easily spend that £100m on a decent replacement and then some. Also doesn’t guarantee Chelsea trophies and doesn’t wreck a club like Brighton. Brighton also seem to spend that £100m on obscure but high potential players from much smaller clubs abroad, which helps those clubs.
