One good example that comes to mind is Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in the early 2010s. Both of them were incredibly quick and athletic wingers, that were scoring a lot of goals. Both were freekick specialists back then, with the exact same freekick style. Also both were both tall and strong, allowing them to be an aerial threat and useful for defensive set pieces, unlike most wingers. Many people called Bale at Spurs “a left footed Ronaldo” and when he joined Real Madrid they formed an amazing attacking trio (with Benzema), winning 4 UCL titles together.

Any other similar cases?

Jude Bellingham and Zizou are almost the same. They both play midfielders for Real and are the backbone of the team.

Aguero and Romario - No bonus points for this but they were both short, stocky and scored quite a lot of goals.

Neymar and Ronaldinho - Both skilful Brazilian wingers who played with Messi at Barcelona, they both played for PSG and they also like to party. They also only peaked for 5 years max. They both could’ve achieved so much more even with all the trophies they won.

Zabaleta and Zanetti - Both dependable right backs from Argentina who just got on with their jobs. Zanetti was obviously the better of the two but both similar styles.

David Beckham and David Bentley (lol) - They were both free kick specialists but one just gave up on their career it seems. More of a joke one.

Messi and Maradona - doesn’t really need talking about this one.

Musiala and Wirtz for Germany. One of them is bound to get benched for the latter. Constant rotation between them may also result in mediocre international carrers for both.

Nagelsman has now repeatedly said he wants to play them together, so I’m not sure your prediction makes any sense.

While the two were similar in that they were quick on their feet and a constant menace on the flanks for FC Bayern and FC Hospital, their playstyles were quite different.

Ribery was more skillful and quicker on-the-ball. He was also comfortable with both feet, making his dribbles devastating. Ribery was also a better team player and more of a creator on the pitch. He did well in utilising his teammates and also bringing them into play.

Robben, on the other wing, had quicker sprints with insane top speed and was deadlier on the finish. He was selfish at times and was one-footed, but we all knew what his left foot could do. He would cut inside, curl the ball, and bam, the dudes just running to the corner flag with his arms wide. Robben also had better stamina and was able to make crazy runs in the 90th minute.

So yeah, both top top legends, but vastly different playstyles for players playing in a similar position.

Now at Inter and Italy you have Frattesi and Barella, of course Frattesi is not yet world class but is very talented and young. They are extremely similar, which is a shame because they are in the same club vying for the same role.

There was a time when in Italy we had 3 of our best players ever with some overlap at the same time, and while they were not THAT similar, they played the same role.

    Baggio, Del Piero, and Totti.

They didn’t really play the same sort of game because it’s changed so much in the last 20 years, but Henry and Mbappé have similar skillsets: lightning fast, deft touch, excellent both passing and shooting. Henry started his career as a winger, too, though he didn’t really flourish till Arsene moved him to the middle. All of which makes me think that Mbappé could be the greatest striker in the world if he weren’t so stubborn.

Of course, Titi was magnificent at the public relations part of the game, which Mbappé apparently has no gift for.

Well, you also had Ronaldo and Quaresma, which played together in Sporting and Portugal National team.

You habe Maguire and Wan-bissaka as well, which both play at united and have “being absolute shit in defence” as common playstyle 😶

Iniesta is similar to Michael Laudrup, with that floating running style. It might seem crazy to say it but Laudrup was actualy better than Iniesta. Mostly because of his incredible vision. Of course Laudrup was Iniestas hero.
