Lots of American food is actually banned in the rest of the world, especially the EU.
Good thing the US has a great healthcare system.

I saw a thread recently with Americans discussing who washes their chicken in the sink before cooking it, which is a concept I’d literally never even heard of in Europe.
That’s not a thing most Americans do, just an fyi.
It’s not, but only because doing so causes even more problems, even though there’s reason to do it
Maybe I’m out of the loop here, but can people safely eat raw chicken in Europe?
You have to cook chicken in the US. I kinda figured that was a global thing.
Yeah you have to cook chicken everywhere, people wash the raw chicken in the US because of the chemicals the meat has been soaked in
> people wash the raw chicken in the US
No they do not
No, we really don’t.
Also most of the chickens have just been simply brined. The only “chemical” you find in there is sodium chloride.
Never had to wash a chicken breast in my life, but, the FDA allows for a chemical rinse, but does not require it. I buy smaller, higher quality chicken breasts because they taste better compared to the bloated, plumped, and cheaper packs, so the chicken I buy may not get this chemical process.
That being said, there is no shortage of sanitization steps in packaged products that will leave residue on food. I’m more concerned that the FDA allows the chemical bath to make up for the shortcomings in animal welfare at production facilities that leads to contaminated chicken in the first place. That bothers me more than a small amount of chlorine on the meat.
The washing is to get any residual poop off the chicken. If the chicken was rinsed in chlorinated water, running water over it for a few seconds won’t do anything.
Several years ago protocol was changed to not wash chicken because it was found the water splashing was more dangerous than sticking the chicken in the oven to kill any pathogens.
The only thing that leads someone to thinking this is true is brain damage
It was a thing until recently when it was found washing is more likely to spread disease from splashing than just sticking it in the oven to kill everything.
Can you define “recently”? I’ve been cooking for ~20 years now, and I also took a food-and-nutrition class in highschool which had a pretty significant unit on food safety and cross contamination. I’m confident saying that washing chicken was not the norm at least as far back as 2006.
Sorry, I’m old now so “recent” is messed up in my mind. Pretty sure I learned the change from Alton Brown Good Eats 1999.

Chicken production is horrible everywhere, but in USA it is next level disgusting.
Besides the chlorine treatment, which they have to do because the production is unsanitary, they also ship the frozen chicken to China, where it’s chopped up, only to be send back to USA, still frozen. Trump was angry with UK not wanting to import it.
It makes no sense that sending a frozen chemical shit chicken all over the world, should somehow be better or cheaper than simply raising a chicken in Europe and just chopping the head off.
US chicken is not chlorinated any more. This myth just won’t die in Facebook.
anything cage free, range free are horrible. you are looking for pasture raised, or expensive garden raised.
We have all kinds of different labels to differentiate eggs. Consumers still buy a lot of the cheapest. In my opinion it would make sense to outlaw the production of those instead of leaving the choice of animal welfare to the wallet of the consumer.
That’s not really a necessary thing as far as I can find. It’s more of something that people do because their parents and grandparents did it too
People do all kinds of stupid stuff that they don’t need to do or shouldn’t do. But yes, this is one of those stupid things that some people might do in America. I’ve never known anyone that does this.
I would do it with whole chickens, to get off all the excess saline solution they package it with, but not to try and sterilize it. That’s what cooking is for
Americans have a lot of mythology around chickens fed by Facebook.
That article has inaccurate information JSYK, brominated vegetable oil was banned in the US before the article was published.
I’m sorry
And jalapeños as of yesterday. Taylor Farms again.
It’s a conspiracy by Big Mayo to keep flavor out of food, I tell ya! They’ll come for the sriracha next!
My wristwatch has a secret hot sauce dispenser
that’s your radial artery and you really should leave it alone
Deep cut
Siracha already dead since it’s not the same anymore
He America…
Y’all winning yet?
What a strange breakfast you must have been playing.
Eggs and groceries were a symbol for the election of Trump
Now groceries are expensive and eggs are dangerous to eat
I will never forget volunteering with a magat just after the election and her being like ‘just wait! Everything is going to get cheaper in a month or two!’ A huge part of me would love to chat with her now. How you like $4-5 gas?
People have actually justified it by saying adjusted for inflation it’s actually cheaper
Lol yeah sure. Cause we’ve all gotten such great raises!! /s
i love the loss of purchasing power, how about you?
Poetic really.
And Trump is in the catering cart at the airport chowing down.
Elect Rapepublicans, get a sicker, poorer, and globally hated America.
Hate is a strong word, but in this case, not strong enough. Despise, loathe, lament… Idk so many options
To be fair, the civilised world has always sneered at 'Murica, for good reason
We used to just laugh at you, now we hate you to the point that “made in america” is a negative thing.
I heard about the Jalapeño peppers but now garlic powder too???
and eggs too? wtf, had to go look that up to verify it. And yep… eggs too. We’re so fucked.
I guess making people not buy groceries is a way to make them cheaper.
i think eggs always had the salmonella problem, chickens naturally carry the bacterium in thier gut. thats why you dont eat cookie dough raw.
Whereas the wife and I made cookies a few days ago, and being that we’re in the UK, I was eating raw cookie dough.
I did keep getting told off, admittedly, but it was worth it :D
All you LIBTARDS have TDS! I don’t remember ANYONE complaining about THIS during BIDENS Administration!
-Super Seriously Smarty Republicans!
All you LIBTARDS have TDS! I don’t remember ANYONE complaining about THIS during BIDENS Administration!
-Super Seriously Smarty Republicans who totally did complain about exactly this during, and after Biden’s administration
trump dick sucking syndrome
Don’t forget the jalapeños.
I was going to say, she must have missed that
Didn’t US voters choose Trump allegedly because of the egg prices?
Well, I guess they still got all the racism.
They had the benefit of the doubt in 2016.
In 2024 his voters were just racists and nothing more. “NPC” was Republican projection too.
I’m sorry, what the fuck happened to garlic powder???
It makes vampires nervous, so the Republicans won’t have any of it.
it wont repel mitch mcconnel, becauses hes a different kind of undead, a lich.
Oh damn, the us fucked up even that?
What’s up with the garlic powder? Didn’t know you could screw that up to be honest.
Vampirism is spreading like wildfire in the US
Nicole Kidman agrees.
For real. She’s 59 but looks like she’s about to be 38. If it’s surgery, they did a way better job than on Michael Jackson, cause nothing looks fake or pulled too tight.
bryan johnson is trying to stay young forever by sucking his sons blood. and yes he looks vampiric.
I heard about jalapenos, but not about garlic powder. Sure wish we had a government that wasn’t full of total pieces of shit.
Is America great again yet?
We can’t eat eggs, lettuce, and garlic powder
Don’t forget salsa, guacamole, and jalapeños.
I’m eating a burrito bowl right now. It feels like I’m gambling with my life. But fuck it’s delicious.
If you aren’t gambling with your life, are you truly living? he asks while eating a burger with lettuce on it
The more news about RFK Jr. I see, the more convinced I am that the brain worm is not only alive and well but possibly in control of what this guy does. I know it sounds stupid, but if brain parasites could hold public office, it would look like this.
Are we sure it’s just a brain worm and not an actual Goa’uld?
goa’uld are too smart and prefer strong hosts.
Add almost anything from Taylor Farms, that company that paid drumpf $1 million
