Hooper could have let play continue, and VAR could have gone back and seen if the goal should stand had Grealish scored.
It was incompetence through and through.

Still waiting on PGMOL and the FA to go “Waaaaaaaah, City are meanies!”
Wondering what Howard Webb will present on live TV too. Hooper’s brain scans?
Wow. Thinking fondly of Mustafi.
Now I’ve see everything
I want Pep to criticise the officials, and I want to see if he gets charged or fined.
Sweet. Draw better than City winning.
However, Totteham are still fucking useless.
Time for Don Unai to pounce and do the job right.
Against his will?
Ice cream and spaghetti still exist.
Mmmmm peanut butter
Absolutely no one asked, but my new dream in life is to have a diamond encrusted toilet dipped in gold.
Only the finest throne for me.
Imma remember all the ‘snake’ clowns when they turn down better paid positions at more prestigious companies, out of principle.
Football fans are clowns who don’t live in reality.
I don’t understand the benefit of releasing ref audio 2 weeks after an incident
It’s to their own benefit. Damage control.
Tempers cool after 2 weeks, and football fans dont always have long memories. The outrage dies down, and the media circus does it’s part.
2 week later, then can still present a pretty damning clip and likely face little to no consequences.
Not Arteta, but this is the best advice that I can offer
I think that the take away here is that football transfer fees are out of control and that we should all termper our spending expectations a bit. This much expenditure is not sustainable for Arsenal FC over the long term.
Cats are stupid jerks anyways.
Nothing beats the 72 hr United title challenge that we empathically ended and buried.
Is this account like some cynical ironic Yoko Onoesque performance art piece?
There’s a certain irony that these people readily support a club that relies on foreign finance through sponsorship, traveling friendlies and selling merch to foreign fans, and foreign talent to join and run their team.
It’s even funnier that it’s also completely lost on them.
Heh. Sometimes, it’s almost as though they read a copy of “How to be an Arsenal fan for dummies” and then internalised the passage that reads, “Must hate Spurs. Always hate Spurs.”
/s is for cowards
Why are you not addressing the issue that even City is up in arms about?
Grealish was through on goal. Had he let play continue, and Grealish didn’t score, then there’s no reason for VAR to intervene. No harm, no foul.
Had Grealish scored, then VAR could intervene and see whether play should have been stopped to begin with and whether the goal stands.
This is the crux of the issue, and what should have happened if Hooper was competent.
