you are comparing WLTP range here and not real world range.

also these two vehicles are very different in size.

looking at real world range the model Y LR in the summer at 120kmh only made it 340km which means going from 80% to 5% charge on a road trip is only 221km so you are charging less than every 2 hours.

the EV6 GT in similar conditions had 259km of range at 120kmh giving it 187km range when using 75% of battery charge.

Tesla has heavily optimized for these test cycles so they get really good numbers on paper but in reality theres a HUGE difference between test cycle range and real world range.

this has absolutely nothing to do with being behind on tech or anything.

in fact the Nissan is a security risk if the system works as you stated.

Toyota has been producing record numbers of vehicles all year and they are only 300k vehicles short of their all time high in 2014.

theres just even more demand for their vehicles.

the Corolla was already up to date long before the Prius, just not in the US.

we got the Corolla with the exact same engine as the Prius since 2018 in Europe.

In the US the Corolla seems to be kept as a low cost vehicle though which probably explains why its not getting the more expensive engine and is generally much more stripped down than the EU spec version.

ground clearance could matter yes but if the snow is so deep that it matters you shouldnt be on the road anymore with either vehicle.

we are looking at 13,5cm ground clearance on the Corolla and 18,0cm on the Rav4

to the difference isnt really that big.

Tire size also doesnt really matter or isnt that different, the RAV4 comes with 19" wheels at most and comes stock with 235/55R19 while my Corolla came stock with 18" wheels and 235/40R18 tires.

when talking about north America here its because there is basically no alternative as public transport is virtually none existent in most of the US.

so you either pick them up or they spend a ton of money for a taxi.

in Europe this is a less common thing as airports are usually very well connected to public transport systems.

i can reach 3 different international airports in just over an hour using public transport, in the US people can be happy to reach one at all without using a car.
