We’ve begun looking into a new Toyota for our family, specifically either a 2024 Grand Highlander Hybrid or Sienna Hybrid. After calling a dozen local dealers, I found that none of them have even one of the two models we are evaluating.

Wondering if the production issues Toyota experienced earlier this year are persisting, or if this is normal in late November for Toyota - meaning that they are simply at the early stages of ramping the next year models.

They’re building as many as possible. No production issues other than high demand. Toyota would much prefer to have inventory, and while it is improving- it simply hasn’t caught up yet on all models.

I work at Toyota. They are trying to pump out as many as they can to stop dealers from overcharging customers

Unfortunately they just haven’t caught up in Siennas. Grand highlander is going to be sooner then the Sienna.

Also a lot of dates that dealers give you are b based on their allotment. So you still might be able to get one sooner. The question is if you want to pay a premium.

Personally, and please this is only my opinion. The car market will saturate in the spring. We are already seeing deals on Tundras cuz they stopped moving once the market was saturated. The economy isn’t as hot as we are led to believe. Again just my two cents

Thanks for the insight. Was wondering, is toyota diverting builds to other countries to get more profit? Someone on reddit suggested it.

is toyota diverting builds to other countries to get more profit?

Pretty much every company on earth prioritizes the American market during economic downturns

Been seeing Tundras build up at dealers. Dealers are telling people it’s the only 2024s they are receiving this year.

I wish Toyota corporate would punish dealers for charging over sticker, in a similar way GM does with the Corvette

Toyota hybrids are the most in demand segment right now.

The Ev craze has all but died down with all manufacturers giving steep discounts for cars no one wants.

Meanwhile everyone said toyota was dumb for doing hybrids and people finally see the light.

Epic gas mileage and range. Plug ins have best of both. Stupid reliable.

So the ones that are available have markups and they get snatched up quick.

Good luck on your hunt. My dad just recently got a grand highlander hybrid max without a markup but he was trading in a hybrid highlander so the dealer saw a worthy trade they could make money on.

Toyota has been producing record numbers of vehicles all year and they are only 300k vehicles short of their all time high in 2014.

theres just even more demand for their vehicles.

Just an note if you’re comparing the two and really need a third row go sienna. The grand has a pitiful 3rd row that’s very cramped.
