Edit: magic 8-ball, who downvoted this?
Why is the character holding a bowling ball instead of, ya know, a billiard 8-ball?
- He’s just that stupid
B) 8 balls are significantly smaller than magic 8 balls so it would ruin the joke in the first panel
I think he’s stupid.
Source: magic 8-ball
Why is he holding a single ball instead of 8?
yeah, but the problem is that the world isn’t made for people who can use rubber ducks, magic 8 balls, wikipedia and good notes apps.
the world is made for the people that need the obnoxious laugh track and a person reacting to an Instagram reel, otherwise they don’t know how to feel.
That’s why before any job interview I put a bluetooth speaker in my pocket. Then when I’m about to walk into the room where I’m being interviewed I play a sound file. 5 seconds of silence, followed by a studio audience reaction of when the hot person enters the room.
You know the one.
Hot person enters through the doorway, says 1 sentence, and pauses because the audience is about to lose their shit going WOOOOOOOOOOO!!! for 3 seconds. Then the actor says the line again, and continues with more that the one sentence.
So as I’m opening the door, I hit play, walk through the door.
“Hi, I’m here for the interview…WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Hi, I’m here for the interview. Here’s my resume.”
“What was that?”
“Oh, that was just the studio audience reacting to the arrival of the main character in your story.”
So far it hasn’t worked. But I still get the ego boost!
I wonder if Darth Vader had his theme music playing under his cloak as he walked around the death star.
If he doesn’t, he could always start. He has changed the deal. Pray that he doesn’t change it further.
Because when darth vader brings princess leia on the deathstar, she looks around. What does she see? Nothing but open space. There’s nowhere for her to run. What’s she gonna do? Say no?
I’m gonna have to try that
they need a soundboard for federal hearings and trials.
‘the honorable judge peterson presiding’ <HONK><AWOOGA!><HONK>
I was interested in this really hot chick, but what ground me down and made me lose interest was that she would not stop sending me these videos… Top 50% of the video somebody would be telling a conspicuously fake “funny” story, on the bottom half of the video was the SAME person but pretending to gut-laugh on a 3 second loop. Omfg… She was an 11 out of 10 but I just couldn’t take it. I cannot pretend I find these things funny.
I believe this is why they invented pump and dump schemes
I was okay with ignoring and replying LOL to them all
But what I was not okay with was the alleged humor content repeatedly later coming up in personal conversation
She would reference something from some reel that had critical impact on her, and it would go over my head because of course I had not watched it. “But you replied LOL” 😮💨
Heads up, AI related bonds are imploding. Taking the entire bond market with it perhaps. There is a very real chance of a recession very soon.
If you’re working class the recession is already here
Ya ordinary people have been broke since before covid, but that’s their problem. But when the stock market tanks, it’s everyone’s problem and we are all in this together.
WelfareBailouts for me not for thee.
Recession soon™️
spoiler
Bitch it’s been here lmao
What are “AI related bonds”?
Bond yields are mostly being driven up by pensions cashing out.
AI companies have no reason to invest in government bonds afaik, much too long-term for their immediate investment needs
Data center build outs, and whatever else. When it implodes the government will bail them out for concessions to fuck us.
AI companies don’t buy government bonds, but some AI companies sell their own bonds. Google and Oracle for example and I believe SoftFail is also looking to sell bonds so they can refinance a loan they used to get a stake in ClosedAI.
Google’s most egregious bond is one that matures in 2126. You’ll only be paid interest until a century from now when you’ll get the principal back. A ridiculous investment if you ask me, but they say it’s fine because thanks to AI they’ll earn a gazillion dollars by then and surely won’t go bankrupt.
It should also be mentioned that a large proportion of bonds aren’t government bonds at all, companies selling bonds isn’t anything new, there’s basically two ways for a company to raise funds: Sell bonds or sell equity. Bonds are preferable if you know you can pay them back easily because nobody gives up any shares.
I approve of this new use of archive in relation to AI.
Someone described politics today as a viscous cycle. Took me waaaay to long to realize what they were saying.

How’s that working out for you?
ikr? I kind of definitely want one.
LMAO Thank you!
archived? i assume you mean achieved
Well In my defense you can technically use Wikipedia and Obsidian to archive information about AI so Im still technically correct.
Haven’t you heard of the archival formats .8bal .duk and .zim?
And at least 60% of AI could be done in a lounge on a cocktail napkin, without a subscription.
People really feel some type of way if you’re not impressed with AI. But it just isn’t useful enough for day to day and makes up stuff along with being destructive to the planet.
This is the dotcom bubble on steroids. These chat bots have a low barrier of entry. The hardware shortage is the only reason they can charge charge excessive amount for access.
In 10 years your phone will be able to run ChatGPT locally. They know this and it’s why they need to sell everyone on these models constantly improving but cannot provide metrics that satisfy anyone who isn’t all-in.
Someone tell Arthur Weasly the rubber duck actually has a function!
So what is up with the duck?
Not sure with the ball either but seems to me it is a bit folk loreish in the US for some reason.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber_duck_debugging
The ball is called a magic 8 ball and it’s a toy popular in the US, you ask it a question and it gives you a random answer
Ah, you beat me to the reply. But yes, the implication is that a random answer is a good as AI, and if you explain your problem to a rubber duck you often find the solution by forcing yourself to think about it step by step.
industry spend
Remember, when you’re off the car lot, you have to drop the salesbrochad jargon. It’s ‘spending’ .
Speaking of good notes apps, does anyone know one that is on linux?
Obsidian, featured in the meme, is on Linux, and for a while now free of charge (but with paid official plugins for syncing and web publishing), and I’d say is pretty good.
I honestly just take notes in sublime text myself, which is paid, but I’m paying for it anyways and often have it open in the background. It can store unsaved tabs in some session file, so I can just put unimportant notes in a tab and have them available to open later.
I also want to mention nextcloud notes, I don’t use it for much so I don’t know how good it is, but I have a nextcloud instance and use the notes for simple notes I want to be able to access from my phone.
I completely missed that
I prefer Standard Notes, can be used for free and offline, full on backups. I have transferred the same set of notes from countless machines. Sadly it is pretty locked down in terms of features, they really want to get that cash out of a user. It’s still pretty useful and has access to basic features. Which are enough for me…
I find that the default gui editor that comes with each desktop is good enough in most cases (xed with cinnamon, mouse with xfce, kate with kde, etc). But if you’re looking for a terminal editor, a lot of people are praising micro as very user-friendly with solid functionality.
Micro all the fuckin way. *pumps fist like a crazy-person *
I opened Micro out of curiosity as it’s installed on Garuda Mokka by default. ROFL It’s just an unseasoned barebones window, but some people like that kind of note taking. I would prefer Kate over Micro. If I had to choose (Kate is better for configurations or Python scripts that you don’t need to debug yet).
micro is surprisingly powerful and has a good chunk of plugins you can use. it’s def my favorite and it’s really approachable.
I guess it doesn’t seem like it to me on the surface, as there must be a config file that needs to be edited to get those enabled because I couldn’t find evidence of that on my basic inspection. So I decided to try out Obsidian, as I have been using Standard Notes, Filen and other such things for my notes. I might give it a go again at some point…
Do it! Plugin list is Here!
Well, that’s interesting I might try it someday soon…Just to say that I have, and I am partial to anything that embraces Fish!
an unseasoned barebones window
That’d be because micro doesn’t do a window, or at least doesn’t need one. It’s a terminal text editor, which some people prefer in general, but it can also be used without a graphical environment - like when SSHing into a server or recovering your system if the graphical environment breaks. Or if you’re editing critical system configs with sudo and want to do it from tty with a simple editor to minimize points of failure.
Yeah, I did mention that some people prefer a more barebones experience…But, I also recognize that it doesn’t fit my own use case. Based on what you said, Micro has a solid use for situations where there isn’t a graphical environment or need to minimize complication when working with critical system configs. There are levels of minimalism that I can’t truck with, so I will let people enjoy Micro without serious critique. Just casually poking fun at the idea…
How hard is it to learn from a scale where 0 is VS
codeslop and 10 is VIM?Considering how many buttons vs code has, micro seems easier to use
I’m a big fan of triliumnotes.org.
Single application, or if you want to wire it up as a server you can do that as well. Few small quark’s - the biggest two are a mediocre mobile experience (to me) and lack of multi user support.
I was going to try out trilium notes, but there was a recent post on this community about how much ai generated code was used and that problems have recently appeared
Welp. That’s good to know. I’m terrible at updating so I guess I’ll just not.
Why would anyone wanna archive what an AI does?
For when we put the tec bros on trial for destroying our planet.

Obs being in there is very funny to me.
