Anything below 4-0 on Saturday will not do gracias why do Villa and Newcastle get to go crazy every few weeks 😤

If we aren’t getting an out and out goal fest then I’d be happy with a strong performance from some of the players that need a lift in confidence. A goal creating action from each of Ode, Eddie, Kai and Zinny. Then one each for Fabio, Reiss and The Smith. I’d settle for that…

Villa - no one gives them enough respect in the way they set up.

Newcastle - they’re always in fuck it mode and just shoot from anywhere and often.

Us - “let’s see how nail biting we can make every game”

Really nervous about the Villa away game tbh. Watkins/Bailey/Diaby are no jokes when hit you on the counter. McGinn/Luiz/Kamara/Cash can run for days to press you and steal the balls. Won’t be an easy game for sure.

We are top 5 team in Europe but ig my family won’t stop laughing at that until we win something big this year. Anyway agree with G Neville, we are winning the league this year

Klopp flipping the middle finger at the Europa tournament and saving his players for league. Champions League or nothing for big teams as I hope it is for our management.

Saka is 9 appearances from hitting 200. If he plays every game from now until then, he hits it at Luton. If he doesn’t play the Carabao game, he hits it vs Villa.

Boxing Day match against West Ham got moved to the 28th. I’m from the US and was supposed to see the game then leave England on the 27th. If I’m not able to move my flights around how hard is it to refund the tickets?

In the same boat…going to be on the Amsterdam leg of our trip. Wonder if it’s worth flying in and out for the evening and out first thing…the missus is going to be so happy.

Sucks that it’s a two day difference…1 day would have made things much easier

I think our squad is at a point where it’s not that easy to improve it with transfers.

If we had budget for another big player, I’d probably go for midfield. I think it would be waste of money for anyone up front. No one available for less than 120M cracks our front three, and no one available for less than 80M is an obvious improvement on our depth: Nketiah, Trossard, Havertz.

Backline is solid. Following the City model, if a versatile ball-playing center back is available, that might be a nice pick up. But with Timber coming back and what we have, we’re very solid.

Midfield has some opportunity for improvement. Maybe another try at the left 8, since Havertz is not exactly working out there. If I had budget for a big player, that’s where I’d put it.

You say that but we don’t have a world class striker or 8, I think we can get a top class winger who can play on both wings such as Sane, if we can also get a LB/RB who’s world class like Cancelo when his loan expires.

Knowing Arteta, an athletic defender who used to play midfield is always in the cards.

no one available for less than 80M is an obvious improvement on our depth

This is the fundamental problem with guys like Reiss, ESR, and Eddie. Renewing is the significantly cheaper option when compared to trying to find a player of similar quality, or better, on the market. The problem is that it results in players that the manager doesn’t really want to play. It’s part of the reason why we are where we are with the depth on the RW.

No accounting for shrewd recruiting though. Trossard stands out as the obvious counter-example. He was on the outs with De Zerbi with limited time on his contract. Those circumstances aren’t always common, but also aren’t necessarily rare.

All the reporting points towards a quiet January, but I won’t be surprised if some outgoings fund a move.

why did tuchel end up starting havertz over giroud when they were at chelsea? imo havertz as a striker works kind of like a less developed giroud lmao

I’m unsure of what kind of rotation to expect against Sheffield United. In light of the home leg against Sevilla, this feels like as good an opportunity as any to spread some game time around. Trossard, Partey, Havertz, Vieira, Kiwior, ESR and Reiss stand out as guys who are in need of some game time but, outside of early Cup rounds, Arteta hasn’t really rotated teams that heavily in the league. I can see Trossard, Partey, and Havertz starting.

Xhaka losing the ball under pressure and giving away a penalty again, but we’ll still have people on the sub act like he was the answer to world peace

Next 2 games are “easy” games, think its a good time for us to rest Ødegaard. Let him rest vs Sheffield and West Ham, maybe give him some minutes for match fitness but let him be fully ready for Newcastle.

fair play to Eddie, always guaranteed 25-30 games

no reason to leave if Jesus is not available consistently

Genuine question because I don’t play the sport, I only watch- other than just practice, how can a player improve off-the-ball? ESR is slowly getting back to fitness but he just isn’t there in off-the-ball stuff
