i know that realistically speaking they just want us to be afraid and be silent on our own.
however, its so scary sometimes. our president praise ”anti communist resistance” ie n*zis and we just have to move on with our day

I’m less worried now than I was a year ago. I’m realizing they just can’t help themselves, they overreach because they think they are more popular than they actually are and can’t help but piss everyone off. Maybe if the right had managed to keep the economy running they’d be able to make up for the loss of legitimacy, but they started an energy crisis in the middle of a legitimacy crisis.

Let them cook (themselves)
Turn? No i think they’re going to continue as they are and then i’ll be killed
well…the question implies that there’s no current threat against leftist people, non-heteronormatives or non-neurotypicals in a current landscape with a emboldened fascism even after all their defeats…
in my country at least, one of the far-right candidates is running on a platform talking kinda openly about disembowel leftists and imitating the despot of el salvador, so the issue is always on the front, but is always about how far the local conditions will allow to fulfill their “secret” desires
If it’s a fairly quick and painless death, I welcome it. Life is just too shit.
I’m not afraid “tides will turn” so much as I am afraid things will continue as they are… and I will be killed. and I know its gonna be a wasteful death in my case because I can’t let stupid shit slide.
No. “Being killed” isn’t part of my threat forecast. What is is losing my job and/or being pushed to the brink of poverty to the point where I do it myself or use state-sanctioned euthanasia because I can’t stand living like this anymore. Only good news is that I have housing security for about a year, possibly more.
Not a very pretty picture but you asked.
maybe this is a hot take, but because i see next to no effective/correct communist organizing in the west (and the masses are even farther off rn) i don’t get the sense that anyone is seen as a significant threat. i mean, the overton window has shifted so much that left liberals are called communists regularly.
sure, we’re all probably on lists somewhere. sure, the west is still at its heart fundamentally anti-communist. sure, things could suddenly get a lot worst if the house of cards comes falling down. but, i think if you’re currently at the point where you think being killed for your beliefs in the short term is realistic i think you’re either extremely desperate (rightfully so, i’m sure) or simply adventurist.
outside of the west could be entirely different for all i know, but i get the sense that many on here (not all, maybe not even a majority, could be an interesting poll) are from the west. i’m speaking from my own experience as a westerner. in any case, i don’t plan on dying anytime soon.
Name a historical generation that didn’t face existential fear. To me it’s just something to accept as an absurdist. If I was a communist at any point since Marx I’d be facing near-future death. If I wasn’t a communist at any point since Marx I’d be facing near-future death from the things that I’m against as a communist. Nothing about the future is guaranteed and history isn’t kind to individuals.Fear comes from lack of knowledge. I know there is a good chance that anti communist death-squads will emerge and will kill me and some of our comrades too (very much like the DINA), but that is nowhere near enough to make me quit or to even make me doubt. Because i know that if they get me, i will be like our comrade that was posted a few days ago.
It’s quite likely that either before or after state collapse, I will meet my end by the bullets of reactionaries. I have made peace with that.
If that comes to pass, make peace with putting several of them in the ground when they come. Get strapped, learn how to fight, learn with your friends.
It’s not going to be a fair fight, those usually don’t exist and most warfare today is ambushing to some extent.
I don’t forswear the ambush, but my first priority is putting down a social structure that will outlive me. It doesn’t matter how many fascists I kill if the alternative isn’t built.

Based!
It’s possible it can get worse before it gets better in a number of countries. But that’s another reason, among many, to practice good opsec and be thinking about strategy beyond just what you believe on paper. There are fascists who definitely strategize and it should not be underestimated that they exist. But they are also human. They grow older over time, they can get injured, and they can die to various causes like the rest of us. They are far from invincible, but they are dangerous and should be treated as such. It’s the liberals who laugh about fascists, while doing nothing meaningful to oppose them. We must take them seriously, but also not exaggerate their power or competence either. Not everybody who acts like fash is competent and organized, but some are.
So my recommendation is, identify the most immediate threats and go from there. The way the internet exposes us to big far-reaching news can make it seem like that’s also the priority, but although a larger view and practice matters to a degree, it’s also often at a level we have little control over. The smaller stuff is something we do have more control/influence over and can more directly impact.
At the moment, if they started killing communists I’d probably flee the country to Canada to hide out amongst comrades or attempt to reach a socialist country. If we build a movement large enough to topple the empire first, I would still fear death but be blinded by the importance of the cause
i may live in italy, but i fear for my life and my loved ones most of the time.
I think i wont survive another 10-15 years, to be honest lol, im a trans leftist immigrant woman with various mental illnesses. If i were politically active or showed myself as “visibly trans”, I’d probably be stabbed or beat to death. That’s a problem for future me though, present me is gonna play videogames and sleep in around 1 hour XD
I think it’s normal to feel fear. We can’t let it paralyze us. Feel it, acknowledge it, thank it for trying to protect you, tell it you aren’t in immediate danger, but to alert you to any changes if which you should be aware. Then go about your day.
