Also, I realize my face looks weird and pixelated and I would appreciate you not mocking my disability.

Congratulations mate, I look forward to you developing a strong opinion on the best flavour of monster munch

Edit: Where do you reckon you’ll end up or are you looking all over?

I am looking all over. As long as I can get a job, that’s where I’ll live. The goal is to just get my daughter (who is queer) out of the U.S. where she’ll be safer.

Well I can’t blame you for that

Obviously you will end up where you end up, but I’d advocate for my current corner of the country in the north west (Manchester & Liverpool) as being particularly friendly and open minded places

Edit: might take you a week or two to get an ear for the accents though haha

Holding a passport? Quite a bit. Unfortunately, I am not on British soil yet. I need a job first, but I am interviewing. Thanks!

Whats the job market look like in the UK these days. Its been off my radar since Brexit. Is it “Tip Top” or “Close your eyes and think of England”?

I’m sure like any job market, it depends on what you’re looking for. At least for now, everyone seems to need someone who can shoot and edit video for them if they don’t contract with someone to do it, so I’ve been able to send out tons of CVs. But I also am applying for anything anywhere in the entire country, which helps.

Congratulations are in order, I think! Happy for you for taking care of your fam and escaping our crazy country. Most importantly, I hope a lot of stress has been relieved for you all and you can be much less stressed job hunting. At any rate, almost any job that will hire you should work for now, just to get you stabilised there. Best of luck in your job search and happy holiday ahead.

I’ve been dabbling with the idea of moving to the UK with my spouse, but we haven’t seriously pursued it. We loved visiting multiple times and enjoyed the vibe. This inspires me to take a look into it further. I’m a software engineer working remotely and I’m curious if my company would let me move abroad. I’m going to talk to my spouse more seriously about this over the winter holiday and see what happens. We’re both sad about the US - I really thought and believed that the people in this country were inherently good and decent and wouldn’t let it fall to Fascism. Constitution over cult. Boy did it hurt to find out how wrong I was. Feel like we also need to escape, and if we can’t get across the pond, at least moving to a progressive state is in order.

Until I zoomed in, I thought the passport was a flask. My eyes must be going bad at my age. I can’t make out ANY of the details of his face!!!

Brexit may have made life more difficult for many British people, but hey, at least the passports are blue now.

(In case you don’t know, British passports were dark red when we were in the EU - in keeping with other EU passports - and when Britain left the EU, the government decided to make passports blue like they were in the olden days, because they thought this would appeal to boomers)

Bah. Yorkshire Gold. English tea is weak now that I’ve discovered Irish tea. Never going back.

      (Also, thanks!)

I’m your interviewer and you failed the post-interview test. Please return your passport until you can spell Bri’ish correctly.

Never! I’m colonizing you back and you have to take the U out of colour and say and spell it ‘aluminum’ now!
