For me the zinchenko debate is a very simple risk vs reward one, and I personally believe the risk is worth it
In a lot of our games at times it looks like he’s the only one at the back trying something a bit different or taking a risk trying to get the ball foward. I think he just needs partey next to him or to get used to rice (who naturally drifts to the left and is still getting used to not being the only playmaker like he was at West ham)
So first off if he’s consistently in good positons and his team mates never find him is he actually in a “good” positon. Might look like it to you watching from up high but you’re not on the pitch. A good positon is relevant to what your teammate is doing, where they are and what they can produce.
Secondly when he is found in good positons he doesn’t do anything with it anyway. He either tamely passes it on or doesn’t hit the target. I can think of two off the top of my head at utd and sevilla. Utd he didn’t even hit the fucking ball. At sevilla he at least got contact with the header but nowhere near the goal. In fact I’ve got a third, again against sevilla where he dallied on it until a player could block
