In principle I am for the idea. In reality i’m dreading the implementation of this, as it’s a can of worms that will explode all over the PGMOL and make them look even more like incompetent idiots.

I think a lot of clubs, especially the ones we class as the “big 6” need to start getting used to fluctuation between 1-10th place for the forseeable future.

Many of the clubs that are currently battling for these positions are here to stay and whether you rise or fall can be due to something as simple as luck (e.g. loads of injuries) or the fact you have the world best head coach (e.g. Pep and Klopp). It can also be a formula, where all the pieces are working together perfectly to create an outcome that is hugely greater than the sum of its parts (e.g. Leicester’s title winning season).

The entitlement needs to go in the bin. Clubs cannot keep seeing CL spots as a given for them and need to get used to the fact there are other clubs genuinely here to play. If you miss out on them for a bad season, you can’t be calling out for coaches to be sacked, and the board to be replaced etc…

Pep and Klopp aren’t going to be here forever, and I would say both those sides will have a hangover after their coaches leave. Everything could move around at that point and we have no clue where it will settle.

Man United, a club that came 3rd last year, 6th the year before, and 2nd the year before that… are currently 6th despite having injury and squad issues, and playing somewhat disjointed football. They will grow into the season and continue to battle for European spots, even if it ends up not being CL after 38 games… that should still be ok.

And now the huge profits they have made from player sales, like ~£100m for Caicedo, ~£50m for White, and ~£60m for Cucarella?

I guess Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal all paid for their titles with good will and rainbows.

Nobody is forcing you to like Man City, or respect them for the way they got to where they are, but if you honestly think that any of the big clubs became what they are without spending huge sums of cash, you’re deluded.

I am a British fan, but I’m going to put my opinion on the table anyway.

Personally, I disagree with the Irish interpretation, and many of the others that are critical of the Poppy symbol, but what I feel that it represents is exactly the reason why requesting to not have a poppy on their shirt should be completely acceptable.

Whether that is because they hold the belief of many Irish as to what it represents, an Argentinian who mourns the loss of their servicemen in the Falklands, or something similar to Matic a few years ago… it’s a personal decision and part of the freedom that so many died to protect. It makes no sense to me that the Poppy is weaponized against people who use their freedom of expression to peacefully dissent from the mainstream expectation.

I don’t wear a poppy, because im not big into symbolism. I much prefer words, thoughts, and discussion.

That said, I’m not convinced that on a global platform you can openly suggest that the British have oppressed the Argentinians without challenge. The British have a lot of shame in our history, but really don’t think you can just tag on an entirely justified conflict and let is slide under the radar as simply accepted.

Honestly, do what you want.

You can support a non-league local club and have a premier league club that you support due to being brought up that way.

To be honest you can do what you want, just because it’s not normal to change teams doesn’t mean you’re going to get into any trouble.
