In the days of player empowerment and constant moving around teams, it feels like there are more players than ever that are guarantees for the Hall… but possibly no teams that want to hang their number in the rafters. Who do you reckon falls into this category?
I would love to see predictions on current superstars that seem obvious but might change if they ask for a trade.
Like Embiid for example. He won the mvp and all, but if for some reason he asks out, would Sixers fans hate him or respect him enough?
KD is absoluteky gonna get his jersey retired by OKC
r/nba out here retiring numbers left and right. There’s like maybe a dozen players league wide that have been active in the last 20 years that have their number retired.
Wembanyama
Gobert maybe
Are you kidding me? We’re on the verge of a 3peat. He’s getting retired.
Also, those picks that the Jazz got are future hall of gamers that will hit their prime right after the Wolves dynasty.
Gobert gets retired by both the Jazz and the Wolves.
Wayyyyy too early to call this. Utah could easily retire it also. And the wolves are kicking ass rn and it’s only his second year there
He’s 1000% getting his jersey retired here
Lamarcus Aldridge.
And yes he’s very likely to make the HOF with his stats, credentials.
Hall of very fucking boring tbh
All my homies from Portland hate LMA
A lot of potential HOFers won’t get their jersey retired when you realize there’s way more to making it to the HOF outside of being a team lead and winning a ring.
I don’t see Horford getting his jersey retired here in Boston, but he’ll be in the Hall of Fame for his college career alone. Then you add on his longevity and a possible ring with Boston (hopefully this year) and it’s hard not to see him get in on one of the ballots.
Nice pull on LMA, dude is so forgotten despite being one of the best PFs of his era.
Dude’s midrange was as elite as Dirk’s middy game. Great all around player in his prime.
Yea he went to the spurs then got injured
I think the Blazers will eventually retire his number
Kevin Durant? With how he left the Thunder and Warriors, then not accomplishing anything on the Nets or Suns (yet), I think he is the best player that could fall into this category. Him or Harden.
Seattle would gladly do the honors
If the Rockets don’t retire Harden I will buy one of his jerseys.
Only ignorant Thunder fans think 35 isn’t going in the rafters at some point. It may be delayed a few years to dull the pain and get Russ up there first.
Harden is definitely getting his jersey retired tf
The Rockets have already announced they’re going to retire Harden’s 13. It’s why Josh Christopher couldn’t wear it his rookie year.
Chris Paul
He’ll probably get retired by clips

damian lillard
There is exactly 0 chance portland doesn’t retire hos jersey even if he wasn’t seen as the 2nd best pg in the league for multiple years and was just a good 24 ppg scorer he would still be retired.
He was with the portland forever and is like their 2nd or 3rd best player for the team in franchsie history
Blazers are 100% retiring his number.
I miss life before November 19, 2023.
Melo though I think he should be
Charmelo is my first pick too.
You guys should do it
No.
And we can stop pretending like every player is switching teams every year?
I know LeBron was the first player to ever switch teams, but he’s going to get his jersey retired by THREE teams.
Vince Carter. I’d say it’s 50/50 if the Raptors ever retire 15.
IDK I love Amir also but retiring his 15 is too much
That should be an easy choice. He’s the most important Raptor ever.
I doubt the Lakers retire ADs unless they win another ring or he carries the franchise post LeBron. Pels definitely aren’t retiring it.
He will definitely have his number retired by the Lakers
I’m surprised you guys still have numbers
Facts, we’re such a goated franchise with so many all time great players it’s shocking we still have numbers available
They already said that they are retiring AD’s jersey. Their standard is being in the Hall of Fame (with presumably some of your Hall of Fame work on the Lakers). AD is already a solidified Hall of Famer, a NBA 75 Team Member, and won a ring with AD as a second option.
AD is 1000% getting his number retired.
He will get his jersey retired. By the time his contract is up, he’ll have seven years with the Lakers, a few all star games, a ring and who knows what else. Top 75 and HOF. Similar time to Pau who we retired.
That is not similar at all to Pau. Pau got two rings and 3 Finals and I feel like if it weren’t for Kobe they probably wouldn’t have done it. If it were almost any other team, it would make sense but the Lakers are the Lakers.
AD has had one great year. HOF?
Are you stupid ?
wat
Paul deserved it too.
Atp Lebron is outlasting AD.
Swear to God we are gonna see some stat in a couple years like:
First player at age 42 to average 20 5 and 4
While AD is retired
AD won’t be in the hall of fame.
Basketball Reference gives AD a 99% chance of make the HOF.
He is a lock
I read their comment, went and checked BR’s HOF Monitor, came back to leave this exact reply and the original comment is already gone
AD is a first ballot hall of famer lmao
Now this is just stupid
Not sure if joking or idiot. Even without his gold medal or amazing college year, he’s in first ballot. He has a higher HOF probability than Giannis based off bball ref.
I forget it’s the basketball HOF and not the NBA HOF. Also notoriously the “Hall of Pretty Good” for basketball. I guess AD falls into the “pretty good” category.
