I have AT&T fiber. The house has 3 ethernet ports in various rooms. I want to run a new cable from the modem to an unfinished part of the basement.

To keep it simple (don’t want to cut/terminate my own cable) I’m getting a female/female wall plate.

My question is, “Does the ethernet cable manufacturer matter or can I choose pretty much any one and close it up in the wall when we finish that part of the basement?”

Thanks for any cable recommendations.

Does this mean that you want to use a patch cable behind the wall?

If so, make sure it’s CMR (riser/between floors) or CM (not between floors) rated.

Don’t do the unknown brands on Amazon, the alphabet soup names. Much of the offshore stuff isn’t manufactured with quality control and a failed wire buried in the wall would not be fun at all.

Like u/Born-Basis7489 says, big box store stuff is usually reliable. Online - Monoprice, TrueCable are a couple of good ones. The big names like Belden are fine too of course.
