Installed a Grizzl-e charging station on the outside of the house. That cable is all over the place! What did you use to hang it? Also, need suggestions on a mount for the plug-in handle. Are just talking heavy-duty hose mounting hardware?
My Grizzl-E came from someone who included a Wallbox holster. That does a great job holding the cable and the plug
I have one of these. It’s basic, but does the job.
My Grizzl-e came with a dock for the plug that you can wrap the cord around. That’s what I use.
A garden hose holder works perfect for me and my daughter.
I use a 6 ft cable, just drape it over the wall box.
Emporia next to a slatwall hook. Plug sits on the Emporia holder, cable loops on the separate hook. I prefer this over looping the cable on the EVSE as it’s mounted on drywall would create markings. For now the cable just rests on the garage floor while charging…I might install a cable management swing arm at some point, but it’s not a high priority.
Before getting the EV I had a pair of worn out hiking boots sitting on the ground in the garage. Now it’s the perfect soft spot to put the charge handle on the ground right by my car. 🤣
Keeps the handle clean, out of the way, and propped up just enough that it’s easy to reach down and grab.
I loop the cable through a pulley hanging from the ceiling with a weight on the bottom of the cable and the j1772 plugs into an EZEV Plug mounted on the wall. I can pull on the cable to reach my car and the weight pulls the cable down when I plug it back into the holder.
I never have to manage the cable or loop it around anything, it’s great.
I wrapped the cable with foam insulation, the one for the water pipes. The cabke doesn’t tangle and you can hit it without damaging the cable or the car.
Hypervolt tethered charger 7kw . £699.
ChargePoint flex has both built in.
I have my charger (AmazonBasics – just their branding, the unit itself is sold by many companies but I don’t know who really makes it) on a 4x4 wooden post at the edge of the driveway. The charger came with a simple holster for the J1772 and the cable just hangs from that and loops a couple times. Never been much of an issue, though it’s very close to the part of my car it plugs into, so we never have to unwind the cable.
The Grizzl-e should’ve come with a small cable wrap/plug holster. Mine is mounted outside my house, and is the perfect size to wrap the cable around then stick the plug into until next time.
Is not really relevant to this post because I’ve only got a level 1 in my garage. It was inconvenient to run an extension cord. Because of how we park, the charge port in between 2 cars at the back.
I looked up one day and saw my garage door opener. My charger is now zip tied to the opener hangers, plugged into the ceiling, with a hanging hook dangling down to hold the cable when not in use.
Usually we just hang it off the mirror of the spare car parked beside it.
3D printed DIY. I made one before for my previous Grizzl-e because I didn’t like the one that came with it and recently made another for my Tesla:
