232 Horsepower standard meanwhile the top engine Accord (Nearly $40k for the Touring) is only 204 horsepower and probably gets similar MPG too…Toyota did good on this one

Lol horsepower DOESN’T matter. The previous Camry made 301HP and the previous Accord made 252HP.

The Accord was faster to 60. It may still be the same for this year.

yep that hybrid powertrain will add weight. on paper it’ll look quicker but just like the previous gen 2.0t accord, it beatout the camry with the v6 bigger engine adds weight.

Never is gong to happen. The government is up the car manufactures to get as high MPG as possible. Meanwhile China and India don’t seem to care about pollution so what is the point?

Not to mention people are sleeping on Honda’s interior design language. It’s done very well. Clean with no wasted space, everything is laid out logically. It’s not “special” but for a mid size sedan (as well as the Civic) it does its job exceedingly well.

I haven’t researched Camry’s to any real extent so I can’t say if its the same. I will say the Camrys exterior is more aggressive and interesting looking.

But to say the Accord went backwards is a bit much.

The Kia Forte GT has less power than the Camry but accelerates faster because it is lighter weight

That was mainly because of the amazing 10 speed in the Accord, but also this is the base powertrain being compared to the top powertrain Accord. I’m sure a Camry GR/TRD will follow later with around 300HP and that will for sure be quicker than the top engine in the current Accord

Maybe, we don’t know if there will be a bigger engine yet.

And it seems like you’re right. The amazing 10AT was a big reason as to why it got to 60 so quickly. I know this because the 6MT 2.0T was about half a second slower putting it behind the Toyota Camry, however I don’t think it’s quite fair to compare a manual gearbox to an automatic because the Camry was only available with an automatic.

Yeah that’s fair, I honestly would still take the 6 speed, it’s a shame Honda discontinued it but I’m sure it didn’t make sense form a sales perspective.

For the longest time Honda hybrids made more power than the Camry hybrid, but they never got as good of MPGs as Toyotas did. Toyota’s hybrid powertrain is superior in terms of efficiency.
