Forget duck, give me life of an Orca. It checks every single checkbox for a fun comfortable life.

    1. Endangered: humans won’t fuck with them
    2. Intelligent: one of the most intelligent animals on this planet
    3. Apex predator: we kinda take this for granted. I dont wanna spend my life being chased by hawks.
    4. No mosquito
    5. They have great social life
    6. I’m giant, I fuck with fishes, mom doesn’t tell me anything cause she too is fucking with the fishes

People wishing to be one with nature don’t ever seem to realize that nature is brutal and horrific just as much as it is peaceful and serene. If anything it is more the former.

Yeah fuck nature. Domesticated cat is the sweet spot.

Outside free to roam a fairly safe territory and then snuggles and guaranteed food and shelter pretty much on command.

Ditto dog, but they’ve got a slightly less sweet deal.

I often hear people complain that billionaires could never actually use all their wealth. The hoarding of the wealth for their “use” was never the point though.

Its all a game of power, influence, and leverage over other people. If you have more money than someone else, you get the ability to bully them. So for a billionaire, you want more money than the other billionaires. You also want to deprive poor and middle class people of wealth so they have even less leverage and are more desperate than they would be if you simply had a lot of money, and not all of the money.

You can get a starving homeless person to do a lot more for you with an offer of cheap gruel than you can a contented peasant with a solid gold bar.

The awesome thing about it is that it saves so much money, eliminates a lot of sources of stress, frees time and energy. You could cut back on work hours or retire earlier too!

If you secularize the idea of rebirth, removing any idea of cosmic justice, all you have is a hypothetical naturalistic process. What you’ll be reborn as will depend on what’s being born, and the odds don’t look so great.

I can actually secularize the idea of cosmic justice. I can totally imagine the idea of karma being a completely mechanistic process, just extremely complicated and convulated involving multiple other dimensions.

Karma has been interpreted that way, as basically just cause and effect in the field of human ethics. It’s also extremely misunderstood by virtually everyone in the west.

Very funny and very thought provoking. They get pretty in the weeds at times about how something like “secular” karma-like system might work, and how the complexities of the modern world would make it essentially unworkable.

Koalas are literally smooth brained and have chlamydia. Like they are so stupid that they don’t even recognize eucalyptus leaves (their favorite food) if the leaves aren’t hanging on the tree and you put the leaves on a plate in front of the koala.

Where you’re a slave but you dont have to do squat and they feed you and you dont have to pay them a dime. Then die before you’re life is over before you become a trapped burden to yourself and everyone around you.

Unlike this life where you are a slave and have to scrape together to feed yourself and them…then you cant just simply die. no simple release. you must wither away.

When I was a kid I was horrified by the idea of oblivion; just one day your body is too worn out to ever let you wake up again and you just don’t, no dreams, no fate, no long tunnel of light. Not even sitting around waiting for something, but going back to the place I was for all the thousands of years before I was born; not being at all.

I swear, the older I get the more and more attractive that idea sounds, and the horror is the idea of ever having to do this again.

More like trillions of years. As a secular person, I do still hold out hope for the idea of some kind of afterlife. Like maybe this is a simulation or something like that, and we’ll get to be reunited with all our loved ones and continue to exist, explore and try new things, read all the books that have ever been written, watch all the movies and TV shows, play all the games, visit areas throughout history that you could’ve never seen while alive, talk to all the famous people throughout history who’ve lived and died - you get the point - up until we tire of existence itself and commit ourselves back to the universal fold. Basically, the setting of the Good Place, once it was turned into the actual Good Place. I really hope for something like that, because going back to nonexistence bums me out, even if by definition we cannot experience it.

As a child I was suspicious of death. What is it? One moment you’re alive and the next you’re not. I reasoned that it must be a state of non-existence, just as was my state before my birth. I could not know that though. One moment I’m not alive and the next I am. As far as I knew one person died and another was born. If I were to die I might just be born again somewhere else. I was horrified: we’re trapped. I never wanted to be alive. I am compelled to be. I do feel trapped. I’m plagued by procrastination in every aspect of my life. If I could choose I would choose to have never existed. I see life as a mistake.

Abstract absurdities such as Buddhism (below commentator mentioned it) have taken on a different quality as I age. I would have mocked such absurdity as a child–and I was often confused about people’s fascination with fantasy (religions)–but time has given it a context. Life’s absurd and if everything’s absurd nothing is.

I would embrace death if I could get their fast, without this body refusing so completely. I think it’s a fact that there’s more suffering than pleasure in all aspects of life.

Everything I perceive is full of contradictions: if you were to love a partner you’d never wish childbirth upon them; to force pain upon them willingly and to put them at risk of death itself during childbirth. Every child is a mistake.

I feel there’s two-parts to us. One that has a type of abstract logic and the other that has a real logic. They’re at constant odds with each other. Some people are controlled more by one than the other, but no one is content in any capacity.

Because it’s such a taboo topic I have no grounded reference, but I do wonder if everyone would rather not have existed.
