I always thought Star Trek took place after February 1993.

They would have violated the temporal prime directive by making the reference to the audience in 1992
They already did.
The events of Star Trek haven’t taken place yet, but The Historical Documents aired long before that. Presumably some kind of time vortex brought them to us.
Cursed to never see a Wes Anderson / Bill Murray collaboration, unless we can escape from this damned wormhole.
