House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-New York) has said that he now opposes Medicare for All, flipping on his previous stance just as Democrats are on the cusp of potentially winning back control of the House. Medicare for All is “not legislation that I am currently cosponsoring or that I support,” Jeffries said in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. Jeffries declined to say…
Another do nothing “big tent” moderate.
“The financial status quo is great you guys. We just need to get back to normal”
Kill me first please.
Every ounce of corruption has to go and this one is bigger than an ounce
AIPAC bitch. Whoever voted for this turd should be ashamed. One of the biggest saboteurs of the dem platform.
He’s upholding the Dem platform, protecting capital and profits
Bought and paid for, I see.
Enemy of the people. Vote him out!

I oppose Hakeem Jeffries.
Jeffries won his primary uncontested.
2 potential challengers either didn’t qualify or dropped out.
IMO the fact that there isn’t a serious primary challenger by default is a massive reason incumbent democrats are incentivized to care more about winning republican voters over anyone left of center. They’re already won the democrat voters, they don’t need to cater to them.
Well, except most house races are too safe to care about Republican (or Democrat) challengers to even do that. Hakeem won with 75% of the vote in the general.
So they really don’t need to win any voters over, they win simply by virtue of belonging to the dominant party in their district. That said, they need to win their party leadership, and it’s financial owners, over… hence how the system is so insanely corrupt.
Hakeem won with 75% of the vote in the general.
He got 75% of 241,150 votes cast. Kings County had a population of 2.6 million people in 2024. And they canceled the primary. So once again, he ran uncontested.
I don’t think anyone in 2018 would have expected AOC would get 2000 more votes than the Chairman of the Democratic Caucus.
Yeah clearly that’s why they’ve been winning all of the elections. Or did they lose their voters?
Isn’t the title also saying that Hakeem Jeffries supports 114000 people dieing annually instead of allowing access to Medicare for all Americans, not just special ones?
If his life was on the line, you’d see him change his tune real quick, but it’s not, so he’ll sacrifice 114,000 people for the sake of his donors’ stock portfolios. Fuck you, Jeffries.
DINO
Damn. How is this the first time I’ve seen this.
It’s quite popular amongst the ‘both sides are the same’ crowd.
He’s a terrible Minority Leader unless the goal is to stay the Minority Leader.
He’s also on record as being opposed to abolishing ICE
He’s like best friends with Chuck Schumer. Too many people associate “being kind of ethnic looking and nominally on the left” with being progressive, or actually leftwing. They’re not the same thing.
Unfortunately you have to check, so get used to looking into people.
The DNC used him as a token for the public to accept the politics of old white men.
The funny thing is he even started himself a progressive black Democrat when first elected. He clearly isn’t.
114k lives that have to keep having services paid for while they cling to life in old age for the majority of those lives lost.
We should have universal healthcare but right now the insurance, healthcare provider and pharmaceutical industries make enormous amounts of money in the US in profits that cannot be made anywhere else in the world. They spend billions collectively on lobbying (bribes) to make sure the majority of politicians are against any legislation that impacts the enormous profits that go to billionaire owners and portions that get paid out to very well paid executives and employees in these industries.
The further you are from the top the less you earn, and the owners want it all. Insurance provides zero value, extreme predatory pricing for pharma provides zero value. Wealth siphoning from healthcare providing companies provides zero value. The combination of all three is why our healthcare is absolutely fucked in the US.
I’ve seen low level roles getting paid nearly 200k in these industries. Low level middle managers are easily above that number. If the low level folks are so well compensated you can only imagine what the profits look like at the top.
These salaries do not apply to hands on healthcare providers in low level healthcare roles - but each of those three industries have different nuances and insane payouts to different groups if you look into it deeply. Healthcare providing is like education and generally not very well paid without advanced education… pharma though? Bachelors or masters is 200k+ generally, even in shitty departments like finance or hr. Sales all hit that or get canned.
He’s going full Joe Manchin, isn’t he.
You never want to go full Joe Manchin.
I mean, not unexpected, it’s one of the differences that between liberals and the left.
