The lyrics are so much better in Russian. They are very tender and heartfelt and really do a good job showcasing what it’s like being a gay teenager in love.
It is also more pleasant hearing them smoothly singing in their native language versus dealing with English.

It’s also really annoying when you point this out and someone comes to champion the good name of all the other queer folk, as if you meant to imply that a person’s queerness, rather than their internal powerstruggle to remain closeted, was the reason for whatever slight they’re performing against the community.
It’s like, no, did you even read what was written? It’s such a weak argument and thought-terminating cliche, and it denies that part of the human condition is that one can try to suppress a part of themselves so ferociously that they externalize it onto everyone else.

It’s gays everyone’s so concerned about. Lesbians were always the exception, for obvious reasons (fulfilling predominantly male fantasies of two sexy girls playing with each other, while not being off-putting to most women)
LGBT just so happens to have L in it, but honestly, I didn’t hear much about lesbians being prosecuted in Russia in any capacity.
I always thought that was such a boneheaded take for a straight man. You want to encourage the mangays and discourage the ladygays. Let the men knock eachother out of the dating pool and let simple supply and demand increase your value without you having to do a single sit-up.
