Elon is the richest human to ever live. His net worth surpasses that of some countries. He’s trying to defend Nazi like actions (including the Nazi saute) to strangers on the Internet. He could do so much good in this world, but instead he’s a piece of shit.

Hell, he’s got enough money to be Batman or Tony Stark at this point.

Remember that he’s admitting that people want to kill him. Also remember that right after he did the Nazi Salute on live television, he was suddenly carrying his son around everywhere. A son, that by all accounts, he didn’t seem to give too much of a shit about beforehand. He was using that kid as a human shield, folks. Most people wont shoot at a man holding a kid and he knew it.

Maybe he would be more popular if he used his money and influence to create a better world. Say what you want about Gates, but that foundation of him and his wife saved tens of millions of lifes. It seems like Musk isn’t even trying to create the illusion of using his money for the benefit of society.

I have a lot to say about Gates. He realized that he was an evil POS and decided to create his own foundation to push his own views on various things around the world. His work had some positive effects, some negative effects, and if he actually valued human life, he would have campaigned to raise taxes on the ultra-rich or paid his workers more.

Let’s not pretend Bill has much humanity in him. He’s almost as bad as Elon. That’s better than nothing, for sure.

I’m not going to try to defend his more heinous actions, neither the ones early in his career nor the ones that came later in life, but it did truly feel like their foundation and what they did with it was more of a “we have the time and the money so why not do something positive and get good PR at the same time?” kind of thing.

He’s certainly saved more lives than Musk, Thiel, Altman et al. have, put together. By far.

I still find it funny that he actually thought he could get drumpf to do something altruistic, though. That shit was both funny and sad at the same time.

I’ve seen it with CEO types, they are egocentric so don’t realize that not everyone wants to be like them, or hold the same beliefs. They prop up their fragile ego with “I’m the best, people want what I have” self talk.

I don’t wonder if it’s because he’s bought and paid for so many “yes-men” around him, surrounded by sycophants when he sees people talk poorly about him, it just doesn’t line up with his day to day world view he bought. I doubt a single engineer who works for him has ever told him no, or that what he’s doing is dumb.

Long before the Nazi salut… Uh… I think about 3 or 4 years before it, I had an argument about Musk with one of my brothers who really likes him.

At that time I had watched a few engineers do the math on all this achievements, only to find out he’s hyping up mundane things that already exist.

But most distressingly, he was saying apartheid things, and critiquing the arrest of a fascist who provoked violence.

    My brother wasn’t convinced.

What surprised me most about the salut was that he did it publicly! Right there out in the open! But besides that it was a full fledged visual proof of what I had been saying already for years. Surely my brother would not be so stu-…

No, I was just on the hate bandwagon. Of course that wasn’t a Nazi salut, I just want to see it as one because I enjoy hating Musk. Because hating Musk is the popular thing to do right now.

He’s just a massive fucking idiot who literally tried to thank people from his heart and stupidly ended up doing the Nazi Salute

It’s hilarious. Like something out of a Naked Gun movie

People who support him know this so being willfully ignorant about it isn’t really helping. Drop the, “he did a Nazi salute shit” and stick to the facts, like pointing out that he accidentally did a Nazi Salute because that’s how big of a fucking moron he is

It was a Nazi Salute. He didn’t do it accidentally. Look carefully at his face. He was doing his “little stinker” face. The one that he does whenever he things he’s doing something “clever”.

          Here is what actually happened.

He stood on stage and said something like, “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart”, then he grabs his heart, and waves to the audience

Does it look exactly like a Nazi Salute? Absolutely, and that’s what makes it so funny. The dude is such a massive fucking idiot he accidentally gave the Nazi Salute on a World Stage. And not just once, he waved to three different parts of the audience, doing it three times

He was trying to reproduce the dynamic of the OK hand sign.

What happened then is that neonazis online thought it would be hilarious to use the innocent sign as an in-joke. Leftists caught on quickly since they are obsessed with fascism coming back and the whole thing was quite public. Then the OK sign spread gradually from online self-professed neo-nazis to real life hard right politicians. Finally, when leftists said “this is a neo-nazi symbol”, they got laughed at in the media by these rightist politicians along with the apolitical neutral commentators.

This had two effects : first, it paints the left as a bunch of crazies and the hard right as relaxed funny types by comparison; second, it acted as a shibboleth. What I mean by that is that if became possible to know people’s politics by simply showing them the sign and asking “what is this?” — you’d get either a puzzled look, a denunciation of far right politics, or a knowing chuckle and wink.

Musk tried doing the same thing with his nazi salute : build some plausible deniability with the “I give my heart to you” comment, and then immediately afterward tweeting stuff like “the Nazi attack is sooo tired”. The hard right base recognized the drill and started using it as a shibboleth too.

But it was too much too fast, the whole of MAGA wasn’t ready to commit to literally Nazi salutes, so it was written off as Musk being a weirdo.

You can tell it wasnt a simple mistake because then Musk would have produced some kind of blabd corporate apology afterward, not immediately made nazi puns on social media

If you want to get technical, a Nazi Salute does not flat palm the heart, it’s that sideways hand all the way through. And why does he flat palm his heart? Because he was thanking the audience from his heart. There’s no need to lie about what happened, what happened is incredibly fucking stupid and make him look dumb as fuck on it’s own

Then he turned around, faced the rnc symbol on the wall, and did it a second time. Was he “thanking the symbol from his heart” too?

If you want to get technical, he made the exact same gesture Hitler did in the side by side video I posted. Are you saying that technically Hitler wasn’t doing a Nazi salute? Cause if anyone knows what a Nazi salute is, it’s him.

Look, we all know what he did, and it wasn’t an accident or an adorable awkward moment from a neuro divergent. Absolute best, most generous case is that he was trolling Democrats. But that DOES NOT change that fact he did an intentional Nazi salute.

Been checking on your comments, what’s your end goal? I think you need to reflect on yourself and think about many other useful stuff that you could to instead trying to convince people musk is not a deranged nazi but just a silly man makes silly gestures.

You say he’s a useless person, but yet you’re still trying to argue with people (which all due respect, this is literally defending him)

I know you are not a bad person but current social media has trained all us to be aggressive and unwilling agent of provocateurs. A “useful idiot” in another way of saying. Please, take a deep breath and put your phone aside. Reflect for a moment what are current affairs making you to do. You’re arguing with the people that you already agree with.

What’s my end goal? I don’t know, kill some time while automated tests run at work? Are you telling me you get on internet forums because you have some kind of end goal other than, “I’m bored”?

I did reflect on myself, and I realized that I’m not ok with lies. Even if the lie doesn’t make someone I dislike look bad, it’s still not OK to lie. It’s also not OK to sit around and see people spreading lies and not say anything. Yeah, I guess that does mean that sometimes I’ll have to defend bad people and people I don’t like, but that’s OK too. If the person in question is really a bad person I won’t need to lie to make them look bad, the truth will make them look bad; and unlike lies, the truth cannot be denied

Here are the facts. It’s all on video, there’s no questioning it. This is what happened.

Elon is on stage at a Republican rally telling them that the election was important and that he’s happy they made the right choice and voted for Trump. He’s thanking them for making this choice. He grabs his heart with his hand, open palm on chest gripping his shirt tightly, he waves to the audience in front of him. He turns around to the people behind him and he does this again. He continues speaking, at which point he says something like, “and I mean it from my heart”

Does it look exactly like the Nazi Salute? Yes; and that’s what makes it so funny. It’s a hilariously stupid Faux Pas at probably the worst time, but was he actually standing on stage and praising Hitler? No.

It’s just that simple. I’m not going to ignore that my eyeballs can see him gripping his heart and I’m not going to ignore that my ears can hear him say “and I mean it from the bottom of my heart”.

I’m not going to lie about what happened. I heard what he said, I saw him grab his heart.

If you’re mad at me for not going along with your lie, then eat shit, I’m not going to be nice to a bunch of people trying to spread misinformation.

Is also a Nazi Salute? Yes, and that’s what makes it so fucking funny. The dude is that much of a fucking dipshit he accidentally gave the Nazi Salute

Did he stand on stage and literally Hail Hitler? No

I assumed he did do one but not as an an endorsement of Nazis, but as an edgy “this will piss off the libs” kind of thing. Thoughts?

          I don’t even think he’s that smart

I think he’s just a fucking moron that didn’t realize what he was doing. It’s like something Peter Griffin would do on Family Guy except, in real life

It’s hilarious and I’m not annoyed people are shitting on Elon, I’m annoyed people are so ready to see the worst in everything that they literally can’t see one of the funniest fucking things that happened in a long time

I dunno I’m finding it hard to find it funny. Like a bit if what you’re saying is true and he’s that dumb, but I think he likely egged on some extremists.

Guy who spends vast fortunes finding, organizing, and financing far-right criminal gangs to commit violent crimes against non-white population centers: “They are only calling me names because they want to hurt me.”

You know what, I never clocked before that his fascination with the letter x is probably a substitute for a more infamous symbol. That makes way too much sense.

Close, but X in ascii code is 88, which is code for HH or heir hitler.

The exact sort of edgy joke he likes.

I’m pretty sure that his fascination with X began long before his becoming a Nazi. This is just a great coincidence that he could play up once he did decide to go the Nazi route.

There is at least one picture of him cosplaying as an SS officer from his early days, isn’t there?

Do you want to read a terrible joke?

A trillionaire and the richest man in the world walk into a bar. Bartender says: “what will it be mr Musk?”
