Stats back raya but in all honesty, I’ve not felt anywhere near uncomfortable watching arsenal with ramsdale in goal as I have with raya.

I’m with you as well. Ramsdale isn’t scared to clear it long if under immense pressure thereby making him safer and easier on the heart.

Raya on the other hand, has my heart in my mouth when playing from the back except for when he’s collecting crosses coz he’s really good at that

He takes more risks, I feel, as he’s generally better on the ball and so trusts his abilities more to pull off the more difficult passes. This contributes to the nerves watching us playing out from the back. Things feel more on edge at times. Ramsdale is much more likely to hoof it up if he feels there’s a strong chance he’ll give the ball away.

It’s true but he also has some awful decisions on some of those more risky passes. Two that pop to mind was trying to hit Rice just outside the 18, on the run with two defenders closing down (can’t remember the opponent). As well as the one last game that Palmer won. That one especially I can’t fathom the pass he’s trying to make there.

Ramsdale is far from perfect on short balls but I feel like despite being a better passer that Raya has somewhat poor decision making. All that said we’ve only seen 6 games so Raya may settle down over time, especially as we’ve tried to play from as far back as possible in recent games.

Raya takes more risks and is willing to bait press more than Ramsdale did, which is what Arteta wants. Raya does more of what Arteta wants from a GK even if fans prefer Ramsdale who just hoofed it

Because Ramsdale will boot it long in situations like that (not saying it’s wrong in some cases but Mikel won’t like that).

Ramsdale made mistakes but so is Raya

Neither are perfect fit for the super high line we are playing , Arteta gotta make some changes or errors will keep happening

I don’t think Arteta asked Ramsdale to do what he has asked Raya to do. The interview after the City game was quite revealing IMO.

There needs to be a stat on that list that’s “Boneheaded plays” or “Heart attack causing mistakes”
