Thank god they never retired this beautiful barrel of pork. Turns out being a low, slow, flying tank is a really shit decision when everything from drones to a boxtruck has a MANPAD in the cupholder. But they were all supposed to be blown up within 72 hours of facing a peer adversary, 40 years ago, so really i guess its mission accomplished.

Warthog is a ground support aircraft. Flies low altitude and provides cover fire for infantry, at least that’s its traditional role. Why was it deployed to Hormuz? Are they planning a ground invasion?

Of course there are considerations for whether this is advantageous for Iran rather than letting the plane strafe US land forces (/s)

Remember when Trump first took office and Kegsbreath fired or forced retirement of a slew of Pentagon brass as DEI hires? I wonder who he fired and replaced with a sycophant dumb enough to fly an A10 in an area that has seen F15s and F35s shot down? “Oh my, they blew up our M1 tanks, so lets send in a couple 1970’s school buses and see what happens.”
