You’re absolutely right, they have a comprehensive vision and it’s long-term. The marriage of thoughtful software and clean hardware is Apple’s secret sauce and they’ve been perfecting it since the 80’s. Google throws everything at the wall to see what sticks, which is admirable in some ways but almost always leaves users in the lurch when they move on to something else.
I’d recommend being honest with her. Tell her what it is and that it’s worth quite a bit as-is, or even more if it’s running. Offer to buy it off of her at a price that isn’t fleecing her entirely (if it’s $40k as-is, maybe offer her $25k), and encourage her to also shop it.
If she doesn’t need the money maybe you’ll get a great deal. If she does, at least you’re not scamming her (and you can still bid on it).
