I actually take issue with how that article characterized HEVs; the Toyota Synergy (planetary) drive system is frankly ingenious in how SIMPLE it is. I would argue it’s actually much simpler than a complex, 9- or 10-speed torque-converter based AT these days. I tell people if you want a gas-powered appliance, just get a (Toyota-style) hybrid nowadays.
The 1.4 and 1.4T Multiair are very reliable engines. Just look around and you’ll still see a ton of 500s driving around despite not being sold for years now. The 500e was by and large reliable too. Lack of faith in Fiat is based mostly on outdated and just incorrect speculation.

After the official Stellantis comments just earlier about bearish EV future, this is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! I will be putting in a deposit, ideally for a “c” version (cabrio).
J3400 yes.
Don’t click the article. There’s literally nothing in there not found in the misplaced-modifier-laden headline.
And yes, I’m convinced my car is a LOT less likely to get stolen since it’s unlikely a crook ever learned stick.
