After the official Stellantis comments just earlier about bearish EV future, this is a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! I will be putting in a deposit, ideally for a “c” version (cabrio).

I’ve told myself I won’t trade the bolt in until someone releases a good 2-seater lifestyle EV (read: not an angry sports car). But a New 500 cabrio might just be cute enough that I break my promise.

inb4 they stretch it by 16 inches for the American market.

The new 500e is currently my 2nd choice of upcoming EVs on my short list of want-to-buy vehicles. Waiting to see if it or Aptera becomes obtainable first.

I test drove the old 500e when they first came out, but the short range, lack of charging infrastructure, and inability to charge at home did not make it a good upgrade over my gas-powered 500 at the time.

Nowadays, with a shorter commute and available charging at the office, the new 500e would be an easy change for me to make.

Ditto. First time I’ve learned of this new 500e, was sometime last year (Europe only iirc). Back then, how I wished it would arrive to the USDM. My prayers were answered. This would be my 2nd option (or 1st) next to the EX30. If my prime EV (solar) preorder goes kaput, this new 500e will be in the running, as my 1st EV.

I’ve been watching Aptera on and off since their original prototype days, and they seem a lot better off and farther along than the old hybrid model they used to have. Switched my preorder to the Launch Edition variant when that was announced just to up my chances of finally getting one. The appeal of never having to rely on refueling infrastructure is strong.

But should that not happen, I’ll gladly stick to the tinycar lifestyle. My current Fiat has been treating me well for the past dozen years, too bad their dealerships keep shutting down around here.

Yeah I am tempted too, to switch to LE. But the only difference from my preorder, would be the Noir wrap and the supposedly “robust” and higher wheel pant ground clearance Off Road Kit (though I don’t go off roading). I kept this pre order (non Launch Ed), since I’m not that far really from the Carlsbad HQ/factory. SoCal would get earlier deliveries (according to Chris Anthony…) probably post-2k Accelerator participant unit deliveries…

I really like this new 500e styling. It is actually one of my favorite small EVs. I’ve seen around 2 of them in person, in Prague (was in a 5 city EU tour last March-April). Btw, speaking of EVs I visited the “House of ID” in Dresden aka Die Gläserne factory. The place was amazing. Back then when I joined the only English tour, that former VW Phaeton factory only churned out 38 ID3 per day. Hilariously slow…it more of a showcase VW factory.

Never take car companies at face value. They make lots of noise and do the exact opposite of what they said.

Agree. I think they make negative news in hopes of making the competition stop so that suddenly, their EV’s have little competition.

If there is going to be a cabrio version, I may just have to buy one. I’ve been wanting an EV convertible
