Anecdotally speaking, having my 12V battery fail twice without warning which locks you out of your car and leaves you stranded. I think its an accurate statement. I only had an ICE car break down once on me in 20+ years and that was a bad alternator on a 10 year old car.
Side cameras are shitty. 720P 15 frames a second in my car, newer ones might be better since they redid cameras recently. backup camera is fine and probably best backup camera of any car.
Resolution and reduced framerate has to do with the processing of the image for their computer vision which is used to power self driving. Security feature which does the video processing burns 1% of the battery per hour which is a lot considering how big the battery is. You can get battery powered 2K security cams that can go months without a charge.
Security cameras last that long in the same weather conditions.
Camera is probably $30. IPhone has 5 cameras(faceId,front,3 in back) Outdoor security cameras(eg: wyze) have decent cameras with good low light performance and cost like $30.
Stop buying fords and buy Toyotas or other Japanese cars except Nissans. But even the Nissans can still drive in limp mode when the transmission fails. Only a few issues will disable a car. I’ve been a car that had the turbo stopped spooljng on a trip to Vegas but it just cut bunch of the power but was still drivable.
