Here’s the neat part: the DWS letters molded into the tire tread have functionality. When you can’t see the S anymore, tires not recommended for Snow use. If the W is gone, not recommended for Wet use anymore. Once the D is gone, it is not longer recommended for Dry use, and should be replaced. Hence, DWS!
I’d look into high performance all seasons. DWS 06+, Michelin AS4. I’d lean towards the Conti’s if you’re dealing with snow.
Costco is a good spot for Michelin, but if you don’t have a membership or costco nearby, TireRack is my second choice.

Where do you live that 89 is premium? If you’re in the US, premium is 91. 89 is midgrade.
Possible reasons: More space. Option as a convertible. Some people like the boar snout. Overall design. More leg room (ish) for back seat passengers.
If you like the size of the 2 series and don’t really think it’s worth going up to the 4 for the ventilated seats, don’t.

Audio quality is the primary issue, as they have pretty much zero bass. No spotify cross fade support, so you’ll have that super awkward gab between songs. They do not support playing music on spotify from the TV AFAIK.
I believe the first three years of maintenance is covered by BMW, so the dealer probably thought you were just trying to get free unnecessary work.
