This will never be more than a below average Reddit clone. We are better off trying to change sites like Twitter and Reddit from within.

Spinoffs rarely work, it’s often much easier to change from within. Let’s do a GOP.

Counter, I don’t want a reddit clone. Reddit made my anxiety flare, I was too addicted to it, and it was way too toxic. I am here because it’s not like reddit.

We also did try to change reddit with the protests, and it did nothing, so I’d say changing it from within works less than a spinoff, if that’s all you classify the fediverse as.

Reddit made my anxiety flare, I was too addicted to it, and it was way too toxic.

Lemmy can do/be that too, thanks to tankies and shitty moderators, and toxic leftover users from Reddit who bring their toxicity here.

This isn’t just an unpopular opinion, its a fucking stupid idea.

Users have zero say in the running of reddit, we cant vote in leadership that matches our ethos.

The code of Lemmy/Kbin/Mbin can be improved, even by anyone. Can the code of Reddit be improved by anyone?

We are better off trying to change sites like Twitter and Reddit from within.

OK, then tell us how we can run for a CEO position of Twitter or Reddit, so we can change them from within. Otherwise, no, we can’t.

Sorry, this opinion is way too unpopular to even justify it being on the “unpopular opinion” community. Now have your downvote (that fortunately thanks to lemmy isn’t tracked or otherwise impactful to you personally. Unlike on Reddit where it would be a permanent stain on your accumulated online life achievements) and be on your way sir and/or madam.
