Yes. Israel is conducting a brutal genocide and America is using the opportunity to launder money from the public trust to military contractors by giving “aid packages” to Israel, and then using outdated “emergency powers” from the Iraq war to bypass Congress broker arms deals.
This is all common knowledge.
Half the country is for the genocide of all brown people.
Half the country is outraged.
The entirety of the Federal government is solely focused on enriching military contractors so they can get kickbacks and campaign donos.
This is all painfully common knowledge.
This is all painfully common knowledge.
I’m not trying to discount or undermine your main points because I think they are entirely accurate. However, I think you are vastly overestimating how informed, intelligent, and empathetic the average US citizen is. I would be shocked if half the country was even broadly aware of what was going on in Gaza enough to even have an opinion about it, let alone be outraged.
I will give you this.
An admittedly hot take, but I would guess that a lot of people who would be LOUDLY outraged are currently stuck in the fear cycle that the DNC is stoking about Trump, so they are remaining ignorant, equal parts willfully and not, because “Trump must be stopped at all costs so Biden must not be questioned.”
For the record, hate Trump. PLEASE don’t come at me with the tired “a vote not cast for Biden is a vote cast for Trump!!!” argument. It’s a stupid pro-genocide argument that rejects the foundational concepts of democracy and keeps America in this viscous cycle of inevitable descent into complete fascism.
I am against genocide in all forms, and both the RNC and the DNC are pro-genocide. That means Trump and Biden are both pro-genocide.
There are people who are loudly outraged, Islamic democrats. The DNC does what it always does, ignore them and stoke fear. It’s disgusting.
You right.
Didn’t mean to imply that demographic doesn’t exist.
It is unfortunately still a superminority.
1/3 are outraged, 1/3 are all for it, 1/3 is “undecided.”
https://amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/jan/24/americans-believe-israel-committing-genocide-poll
This sounds about right, as, if we look at Biden’s election, slightly less than a third voted Biden, a little bit less than that voted Trump, and a little more than a third abstained from voting.
To he fair, a fraction of a percent voted 3rd party. I attribute this to:
-
Noone is actually stepping up to a third party/RNC and DNC have gotten REALLY good at curbstomping strong third party candidates, accelerated by Citizens United.
-
FAR too many Americans are still drinking the “a vote that is not for my red/blue tyrant is a vote for the red/blue tyrant that I am not voting for” Kool aid, which Is frankly complete horseshit.
Look, last two elections I looked at the third parties, the most prominent was when it was Trump v Hillary. Green party couldn’t get a candidate that felt coherent enough to put up a fight against any of the other parties. Libertarian party has consistentently been Republicans who don’t want to call themselves Republican.
Those were the best two options. So yea… while both options suck, one is a moldering garbage fire and the other is running over to the garbage fire with gasoline, I’m going to do what I can to stop the gasoline. So yes, I can vote 3rd party, just as well as I can piss in the wind and hope it gets in one of the leaders eye.
You want 3rd party? Do the same thing the Republicans have been doing for the past 30 years and stop doing what the Democrats have considered the best plan. Don’t focus on the Presidency as the pure win/lose. Focus on it on the locals. Mayors, state legislators, governors. When the locals start following then start chipping to get into the senate and legislative branches. That’s when the chance will be had. But until a 3rd party is willing to play the same game as Republicans did where there will be no uncontested election no matter how small, no one is going to care because it’s quite telling how involved they are when all the local ballots are only filled with (D) and ®
Currently, the RNC doesn’t want Trump but can’t stop him and the DNC seems to want to lose.
You highlight a key point: Any viable candidate in moderate history has been squashed by the DNC, and that is a problem.
I dont have an answer. I have, at best, 4 names that would stomp Biden if we weren’t, as Americans, bound and determined to vote for evil, aka lesser evil, aka RNC or DNC.
Sure as shit though, I won’t vote for anyone who is Pro-genocide.
Numerically, isn’t number 2 accurate?
Either you live somewhere where your vote doesn’t matter, or your vote does matter, and voting third party is little more than virtue signalling at the expense of taking one vote away from a chance to beat the worse of two evils.
Erm… yes?
Not sure about how you ended it in the fentynal laced Kool aid “Two evils” rhetoric, but…
In my opinion, Biden, Bernie, Katie Porter, and Ro Khanna should be about 3 primary debates deep, and the latter 3 would be slaughtering the former.
Biden would have been DESTROYED in those debates.
Then liberal Democrats would have someone to vote for, but progressive Democrats would not get genocide kickbacks, so they just squashed that entire process.
That would suggest the former should be running independent or pushing write in campaigns, like Biden did in Vermont and Trump is doing all over.
They aren’t though, because American democracy is a lie and we are being forced to vote for genocide, and in such an election, RNC voters will turn out and disenfranchised DNC voters will not.

Are those children consuming popcorn nutritionally?
Not popcorn, boiled grains.
Not just grains, they are eating grains which is were meant as animal food.
That doesn’t look like popcorn to me, seems more mushy and wet. Maybe rice or some other grain and lentils or something?
Although is popcorn worse than say straight off a cob? Seems like it’d have less sugar at the least.
They are probably eating everything they can find, considering they are living under famine. If there is a bag of popcorn in Gaza, they will eat it.
But I agree, this doesn’t look like popcorn to me.
It looks more like boiled grains like sorghum, buckwheat, farro, etc.
Popcorn doesn’t make sense given the region.
I’m pretty sure it’s popcorn, look at what I would describe as unpopped kernels in the pan on the right, and the shape of the objects in that pan, especially the broken piece. I could be mistaken.
As for your question, yes. Dry popcorn is awful for your fecal consistency, despite its high fiber content, and corn products are not very nutritious by themselves, needing e.g. squash and beans to compensate for each others’ deficiencies. I am speaking from personal experience and I am aware I am contradicting what you will find on a google search. I strongly recommend you do not try to eat just popcorn for two days straight because you’re depressed and lazy and it’s all you have in the kitchen cabinet. It is not complete or in any way adequate nutrition, and if that’s all these kids are getting they are malnourished already.
Better than nothing isn’t good enough here.
It’s not popcorn, it’s general grain. Corn isn’t really grown in Palestine
These two look like the same dish, and they both look soft and mushy to me.
The picture on the bottom Is definitely steaming but there’s no distinct visual indication of texture with all that photo graininess. The one on the top appears to me to have distinct individual blobs in piles. I looked at the one on the right because it was closer and easier to make out shapes. What you can definitely make out in both of these photos are what appear to be kernel shells, especially in that bottom photo in the beam of light, on the bottom on the right. You can see that “kernel shell” is partially transparent, which gives an idea of its thinness. The colors are all exactly what you would expect for popcorn.
I could be mistaken, sure. I really hope I am.
I’m with @Deceptichum on this. That looks like rice or a grain, and a pulse such as a small bean or lentil mixed in. There are far too many dark bits in the mush on the left for it to be popped corn.
Also, popcorn would not be practical in Gaza. Look at what the humanitarian trucks are trying to bring in. It doesn’t involve corn.
You’re right, it does seem to be more shells than is appropriate for undistinguished popcorn.
There is no humanity left.
Oh there is, but not in positions of power anymore.
There are plenty of empathic and kind people and they are at the bottom of the social rungs everywhere.
By design.
Reminder that Biden is desperately trying to give israel more bombs right now while Netanyahu is refusing to even go to ceasefire talks.
Don’t get me wrong what Israel is doing is absolutely horrible and should be stopped.
But what I don’t really see in the comments is the question (and answer) what should they have done after the horrible attack Hamas did? I don’t have the answer myself.
When something similar happend in the States (911) the response was to invade 2 countries and a 20 year long war.
Edit to people saying how wrong I am even Biden mentioned it https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/18/joe-biden-urges-israel-not-be-consumed-by-rage-pledges-support-netanyahu-gaza-hamas
Military response and operations to save the hostages is naturally justified, but that can be done without actively
- cutting off water, food and power supply
- bombing hospitals and apartment buildings full of civilians
- executing civilian families in the streets
- allowing members of parliament to call for eradication of the Gazan people without criticism
- trying to shut down any criticism of their extreme and indiscriminate violence by calling their opponents part of Hamas (South Africa, UNRWA)
Thanks for actually answering the question.
That wasn’t even remotely similar in multiple categories.
Why exactly?
Israel was starving Gaza before this and annexating the west bank.
7 October would not have happened without israeli aggression.
What israel should do is a hostage and POW swap and come to an agreement about a one or two state solution.
This genocide does not solve anything.
The kids are starving and dying while the Hamas “leaders” who purposely provoked this situation with their horrific attack on Israeli civilians are living in safety in Qatar:
https://news.sky.com/story/who-are-the-key-leaders-of-hamas-inside-gaza-and-beyond-13042603
Man if only Israel would stop starving and killing the kids and instead go after the Hamas leaders
spoiler
Don’t even think about saying they can’t because Mossad has already done so multiple times in the past in “allied” and “enemy” countries without even a hint of resistance. Iran can’t even keep its nuclear scientists safe.
Israel is after the Hamas military forces that are hiding among and under the civilian population of Gaza. Israel has every right to seek out and destroy those who attacked them. Hamas is purposely exposing their own population to danger by hiding among them.
How easily you can sit in your comfortable chair and justify the murder of children.
Disgusting.
Fuck off, Ben Shapiro. You’re not welcome here
