I am about to purchase a 2018 340i M sport with a M/T, 35k miles. Is there anything I should do right away preventative maintenance wise? Not looking to do any mods to it, just want something that will be solid for years to come. Thanks for any input

Check for evidence of modifications, then probably save up for a few of the bigger maintenance jobs down the line.
Say near 100k miles I would be preparing for: water-pump, ignition parts replacement interval, oil leaks, DI carbon build up cleaning/walnut blasting, and possibly cooling system maintenance
You might run into other unexpected issues along the way, but the aforementioned would be bigger maintenance jobs I’d expect on the car after some miles
Other than that, do fluids maintenances diligently and enjoy a damn good engine especially backed behind the 6MT
I like the idea of replacing my G37s with something like a 340i
That’s fair I guess, I would start by checking for a car fax for oil change interval since clean does not mean well maintained. If the car is city driven and oil never gets to temp sludge can build up in the valvetronic system. I personally have replaced the full valve tonic system on n55s n20s b58 as they suffer from the exact same issue. Next I would check for is steering rack clunk f30s have this odd issue where the steering rack would clunk when turning in tight corners or stand still and need a new steering rack with a revised tensioner. Other wise b58 is a great engine nothing really is a red flags. Valve cover can leak and the pcv can fail but those things are very easily fixed and generally don’t cause permeable damage. When you get into the exterior try moving around in your seat to hear for noises since these cars when parked in the sun for long time gets interior clunks.
Keep a spare PCV diaphragm in your car, do regular maintenance, thats all
How much you getting it for?
Just make sure it has maintenance history. The B58s are really nice realible, so generally, you’ll be fine.
Thanks for all the comments - I ended up pulling the trigger! I will be picking the car up on Friday - I will post some pics soon!
Is this in NY?
Have you driven a manual 340i ? The manual version is really just meh, this car really pairs well with the 8 speed. If you really like the manual feel I’d look into like a e9x m3 with the manual.
That’s dope congrats, i also have a 2018 MT (m3) with around similar mileage, I’m sure you will love it - besides the CDV 1-2 shift lol
