I am a big fan of Tesla. The cars are amazing. Generally I respect Elon, who has a track record of success. I support unions but I would never join one.
I think this is the best quote from the article.
“I don’t know, maybe they will unionize,” he mused. “If Tesla gets unionized it will be because we deserved it, and because we failed in some way.”
Elon has made many employees rich. If they unionize, they jeopardize the benefits that made them rich. I can’t see the company agreeing to be as generous when dealing with a union.
Management collectively bargains; why shouldn’t labor be able to?
Something should countervail the power of the corporate organization; that’s a labor union.
