Left news: A Trump dictatorship is inevitable

Right news: A Biden dictatorship is inevitable

Actual news: The media wants you to start a civil war with your fellow man to distract you from eating the rich.

And the right says the Democrats are actual fascists, the left says the right is actively stripping human rights, the right says the left is actively murdering babies. Both are just flinging shit. Yes, the GOP are deplorable bastards, so are neo-liberals and SJWs. The problem is the politicians themselves, not the team they are on. Every speech and news article is designed to rile you up against the other side these days. If we focused our efforts on getting these corpses and puppets out of our government we would find that, outside of some extremes, Americans have more in common with each other than the media wants us to think.

It’s not about what people say, it’s about what they do. You’ve abstracted your politics to a degree that you can’t tell what’s actually happening around you and you’retaking rhetoric as if it’sall equal.

The GOP is actually taking people’s rights away, they actually attempted to overthrow an election and send fake electors to change the results, they’re actually laying out plans to replace tens of thousands of government employees with pre-screened Trump loyalists.

Right-wingers can call the left fascist all they want but it’s not materially true, the left has nothing even remotely similar to that. Sanders wants to make healthcare work and raise the minimum wage, not exactly fascist. Appealing to centrism does not work in this case, because you cannot have a healthy balance between fascism and democracy, and conservativism is at its core a philosophy concerned with preserving authoritarianism, heirarchy and the concentration of power into the hands of the few.

Yes, conservative Dems are also complicit, but you’re not going to achieve anything by finding a middle ground between extreme conservatives and slightly less extreme conservatives.

You’re comparing people who strip rights from women and minorities to people who believe in equality and trying to say they’re both as bad as each other. This is only true if you believe that some members of society should be treated badly at least a bit.

          It’s a bizarre take.

      you from eating the rich.

from rioting in the streets to stop the destruction of the environment

slight disagreement but overall excellent thesis.

Biden and Trump are both rich. No rich person wants a civil war, that would get most rich people killed.

No rich person actually has to fight in any war, that’s the job of those dirty poors. And every gun/round sold is extra money to the (rich) people who made investments into the MIC and media propaganda machine.

The US is not nicely divided between North and South like it was in the 1860s. A civil war now would look more like The Troubles + mass shootings, than it would Gettysburg-esque battlefields. Political assassinations would be happening constantly. Mobs torching neighborhoods of their political opponents.

It would be very difficult to be insulated from that, short of fleeing the US (which I’m sure many rich people would).
