I hear a lot about the various EVs on the market and their drivetrain/software/ride quality but I rarely hear about the quality of service that comes post-purchase. Perhaps because it’s not an exciting topic.
Which brand would y’all say has the best or worst reputation in the regard? How would you say Chevy compares to Tesla or Hyundai?
When these people only drive teslas they’re only goi g to respond with Tesla.
This is actually a very poor question for this sub because an objective answer would require direct experience with at least 3-5 different EV makers, which I’m guessing not many have.
Go read consumer reports.
This question is pretty much impossible to answer as service is largely dependent on the dealerships and not necessarily the vehicle company.
Even worse. Their membership is not a random cross-section of car owners.
They have the resources to actually research and answer the question
CR is probably the best at quantitative reliability data collection to prevent need for serving. (As an aside, wish their reports had more qualitative weight. For example, a recall that says “replace X” should be dinged more than “inspect X”.)
Honestly even CR might be dubious though it could be the best source available. I’ve had an ICE car in two different states and the first dealership experience was awful and the second one was like night and day better. Same car, same brand
One difference is that ICE cars don’t have to be fixed at the dealership. I have a Toyota. I’ve never taken it to a Toyota dealership – the independent mechanic down the road with the very nice dachshund shop dog will take care of it.
When people own Tesla stocks they’re only going to respond Tesla.
Very true. EVs have not been a mass market product long enough for the anecdotal experiences to mean much.
So their own experiences don’t count? Tesla has been the best for me.
