I’m curious - why do you pick Samsung compared to other smartphone brands? (Google Pixel, iPhone, OnePlus, etc.)

(I’m also going to be asking in other phone subs, hope this survey goes well)

iPhone - I really, really, really don’t like Apple as a company, all their absurdly locked-down policies and the fact that Tim Cook thinks he knows better than I do what I should be allowed to do with the devices I own. The only Apple products I like are MacBooks and a few TV shows on Apple TV+. MacBook is: good build quality, OK specs, a Unix-like OS that is hassle-free, so good for my tastes. MacOS is getting more locked-down with every release, though, so in a few years I’ll probably have to switch to something else, maybe the Year of Linux on the Desktop will finally arrive.

Pixel - not available in my country, so they decided they don’t want my money, I respect their decision.

Mainland Chinese brands - I don’t trust them.

So, that basically restricts my choices to either HMD d/b/a Nokia or Samsung. HMD has no flagships and is generally crap, Samsung has flagships and doesn’t suck too bad, so Samsung it is.
