All I’ve really seen today is sensationalist headlines saying that there gonna be sent to the phantom zone or jokes saying they’ll be fine, so I’m curious to know people who thing’s expectations of what will happen
Chelsea will get some kinda temporary transfer ban and city will get a fine. That’s how it’s gonna go
You know how Man City spend lots of money on players, coaches and on getting the best manager around. Well they’ve also been that meticulous in assembling their legal team as well.
I’ve jested on here before that the best side that have won the most points are Man City’s lawyers. Until (if) anything happens, they are still winning.
I have no in depth understanding but I could see City being stripped of a few titles in a few years when nobody cares about who won the league 10 years ago so there’s less fuss about them being stripped or re-awarding it.
Can’t see them being stripped of anything. Probably just a fine (woah a fine to billionaires and their billion dollar entity) and maybe a point deduction whenever they get around to resolving this.
Fines in sports on this level are just stupid imo. Do they really think the owners of City, who are the second richest in world football care about paying a 30 million pound fine (which was their UEFA punishment)? They probably spend that in a day, completely useless to them.
IMO the FA and PL need to rewrite the FFP/sustainability rules. Something needs to be done to ensure “smaller” clubs can spend to try and reach the UCL places but also ensure that people aren’t cheating like City and Chelsea are accused of. Maybe owners need to put up x amount into some account, so that if they decide to fuck off the club doesn’t get ruined by them.
Chelsea - Transfer ban City - Nada
Luckily for us we could do with a transfer ban
You can ask people who have an in-depth understanding of the situation, or you can ask Reddit.
Not both.
Both will take years to be concluded. City has 114 more charges than Everton. Chelsea are still being investigated.
I don’t see Chelsea being relegated or any crazy point deductions (could be wrong ofc) but a transfer ban is likely (again don’t quote me).
City could be anything bc I don’t know what the charges are specifically so I don’t know what they could potentially face.
Majority of your average fans will just read the sensationalist rubbish spouted by journalists and think city will be stripped of titles and relegated to the national league. The situation is different to Everton in that so far there is no evidence that city have actually done any wrongdoing and the charges mainly relate to either a failure to disclose information or a failure to cooperate with the investigation. The average fan also loves to the throw the “115 charges” about when in reality a lot of the charges are duplicated.
The charges relate to the period from the 09/10 season to 2017. Here is a very brief summary of what city have actually been charged with.
-
In respect of each of Seasons 2009/10 to 2017/18 inclusive, the Premier League Rules applicable in those seasons that required provision by a member club to the Premier League, in the utmost good faith, of accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club’s financial position, in particular with respect to its revenue (including sponsorship revenue), its related parties and its operating costs
-
In respect of: (a) each of Seasons 2009/10 to 2012/13 inclusive, the Premier League Rules applicable in those Seasons requiring a member club to include full details of manager remuneration in its relevant contracts with its manager
b) each of Seasons 2010/11 to 2015/16 inclusive, the Premier League Rules applicable in those Seasons requiring a member club to include full details of player remuneration in its relevant contracts with its players,
-
In respect of each of Seasons 2013/14 to 2017/18 inclusive, the Premier League Rules applicable in those Seasons requiring a member club to comply with UEFA’s regulations, including UEFA’s Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations
-
In respect of each of the Seasons 2015/16 to 2017/18 inclusive, the Premier League Rules applicable in those Seasons on Profitability and Sustainability
-
In respect of the period from December 2018 to date, the Premier League Rules applicable in the relevant Seasons requiring a member club to cooperate with, and assist, the Premier League in its investigations, including by providing documents and information to the Premier League in the utmost good faith
In my opinion the findings will go the same way as the uefa investigation from a couple of years ago - lack of sufficient evidence but they will be hit with a hefty fine.

Chelsea may get a transfer ban. City will get away with a 5 point deduction or a 10mil fee or even nothing at all.
I expect Chelsea to eat their sanction before the current season is out. It seems Todd wants to clear the decks and close the door on Roman’s era. It’s clear that 30 points is being floated to see how it lands.
(It’s also clear Everton got 10 so they could scale up the deductions.)
I expect the PL will fail to charge Man City for some time. I feel like they should rip the band-aid off and go ahead and issue their sanctions and let City have to unfuck it rather than delaying. City doesn’t have CAS to run to. Putting City on defense is a stronger position.
If they’re not ready on all 115 charges, there must be a subset that is pretty much a slam dunk. Present those. If you can’t win there, you won’t win the rest. Lest we forget this is a sports league—at some point the violations are too far from the present to even remotely be fair. I have no hate for the fans—they deserve timely accountability and medicine-taking if necessary.
There will probably be 200 more Reddit posts about it.
Fines are not effective. It would be appropriate to penalise infractions by reducing their allowable loss by £ xxxx for y years
"FFP limit in the Premier League
The Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) rules allow a £5m loss a year, which can be boosted by £30m secure funding, giving allowable losses of £35m a year. The monitoring period covers 3 years, so this works out to a maximum allowable loss of £105m"
Money usually wins…
Lmao these comments kill me. I forgot city were already found guilty. Oh right, reddit knows all.
I mean, I don’t care about city, but I somehow doubt 115 charges get levied at someone entirely innocent. Maybe the get away with it on a technicality, but I think jts pretty fair to say there has been some funny accounting going on somewhere for them to be able to spend the way they have. Regardless of what happens, I think their accomplishments have been tarnished in the eyes of many
