Hello…

Maybe i am just not a gear head but the morning frost on my CX-5’s windows and rear view mirrors takes like 30 min to melt (with the car on and blowers going!)

Any tips or tricks to make this less annoying and frankly less dangerous? I HAVE to drive with frosted mirrors sometimes, because i don’t have a tiny ice scraper (yet)

If you’re concerned about the time it takes to scrape the ice off the car and the scratches that will accumulate. I suggest you try pouring warm water (around 100°F) through a watering can over the windscreen and side windows, providing you do this just prior to you driving off and immediately turn on the wipers to remove the excess water, it won’t re-freeze.

Note, don’t boil the water as the temperature shock can crack the windscreen (apparently, I’ve never seen it done) but I’ve used the above method for 4+ years and it’s caused me no issues.

Just use an ice scraper, takes like 30 seconds. The defrost blower isn’t very effective at start because the engine is cold; it doesn’t really warm up until you start driving. A cold engine can’t blow hot air, so you’re just wasting fuel.
