I’ve been looking into TP-Link and Unifi for both managed switches and access points. My network will be using a Protectli Vault with PfSense.
Via ethernet, I anticipate there to be about 25 devices connected at once. This includes POE devices such as security cameras and access points, as well as non-POE devices such as computers and smart devices.
In terms of WiFi, I anticipate there to be about 15-20 devices connected at once.
I have narrowed my search for Switches and Access Points to TP-Link and Unifi. Which brands and models would you recommend based on the info I’ve provided?
Unifi, or if budget is a concern, TP-Link. Either will handle your minimal load. You’ll need to factor in the controller, whether their hardware or run on your own in something. If you go the UniFi route, you could look into their line of cameras (very good, IMHO) and perhaps run the Cloud Key Gen2+ which would be the controller and NVR.
The TPLink Omada line is great. Switched from Ubiquiti a little under 2 years ago. Affordable, reliable, and just as easy to work on. Better availability too, though maybe not as bad now.
