It depends on the game. If it supports simultaneous gamepad & KB&M then you use the right track pad as a mouse. If it’s something like Fallout 3, you either use M&KB bindings or joystick as mouse.
Trackpad in mouse mode is better than an analog stick for aiming IMO. Just a lot of games don’t support it correctly and Steam Input failed to be fully adopted.

It came after I have my steamdeck. How do U compensate for 1 shortage of joystick on the right assuming U using the right pad as a trackpad?
My games are mostly RTS and was able to play wh3 with my deck with many pause hahaa.
Trackpad and gyro aim. It takes a bit to get used too, but you end up with nearly mouse-esq accuracy.
