The M2 is a performance bargain. Biggest differentiator IMO are the tires. Had it come with the same tires as the Dark Horse, we would have seen better numbers.
$73,000 dollars for a 3925lb Mustang GT variant. How about no.
And people wonder why used car prices are still insane?
How is that even possible? My damn sedan only weighs like 200lbs more than that. That’s insane
The Mustang is on a pretty cheap platform. Limited use of lightweight materials compared to more sophisticated competition.
I’d say you were lying because $73k doesn’t sound cheap, but here we are. I guess I’ve just been getting poorer.
Cheap in materials. Gotta scale from a rental special all the way to dark horse (e.g. stamped steel suspension components).
When the German sports car is considered a great deal compared to the overpriced American sports car. How the turn tables.
I mean, I respect American sports cars. They aren’t for me, but I think they’re amazing. But I also think that just because it’s American that doesn’t mean it has to be cheaper. Maybe this is controversial but I don’t think it’s over priced. That said, I’d choose the M2 every time as I prefer the ethos of import sports cars
Yup, this right here. Selling my Camaro and have an M2 on order.
What about the Camaro was overpriced?
The problem with the M2 is that you have to look at it and be seen in it.
What a pig ugly car. Such a shame since the last one was so good looking.
Why would anyone buy a Mustang over a M2? Considering they cost practically the same lol
Longterm cost of ownership… i say this having owned a new gt mustang and a twin turbo bmw.
Except that the B58 is bulletproof and the S58 just builds on that with more cooling and redundencies, therefore being even more reliable if demands are equal.
Both Papadakis and Driftbrothers went entire seasons on one engine @1000HP.
I got burned by the N54. Im still a little gun shy on bmw because of it.
you mean *heavy whales do battle
Hagerty has a great video on this
Mustang Dark Horse vs Lotus Emira, M2, Supra, Camaro, Challenger
Not that it matters at all with these cars but how come the M2 gets poor fuel economy as a criticism when it’s still better than the Mustang?
I don’t know what has compelled the M division to hit all their vehicles with an ugly stick, the M240i looks so much better than the M2.
ITT: people see the price of the top trim and say that’s what the car costs now. You can still get a manual V8 mustang starting in the low 40s, and yet everyone is acting like they’re all 60k cars now. You might as well say that the 911 is a 250k car because that’s what a GT3 RS costs
The Mustang interior still sucks and looks like a rental car.
Okay I’m a Mustang owner but…the M2 is faster, has a better interior, COSTS LESS, and isn’t better? That’s tough to buy into for me. I don’t like where BMW is taking their cars (bigger) but I’m not sure how to buy that the Dark Horse, even at MSRP without the $50k markup, is better than the M2.
Considering the biggest flack BMW keeps receiving (besides the horsey pulp that is their current design library) in the G-generation cars is a lack of steering feel, it’s likely entirely subjective as far as which car feels better to drive. The M2 is better in a lot of metrics on paper, but not necessarily the one that matters in the article.
