Am I going crazy of has the amount of anti-EV “articles” started to skyrocket. Just today, I’ve seen a “Why I’m not buying an EV” concern article, some accusing Biden of killing EVs, “The true costs of buying an EV,” and my favorite: “Study: The True Cost of Charging an EV: $17/gallon.” (That study was funded by Exxon Mobil, lol).
What’s going on? Why is all the EV hate in the media ramping up?

I see your subsidies and raise you. The article states, “Adding the costs of the subsidies to the true cost of fueling an EV would equate to an EV owner paying $17.33 per gallon of gasoline,” study authors Brent Bennett and Jason Isaac write. "

However, here fossil fuels have their own subsidy amounting to $7 trillion/year.

An implicit subsidy of $0.75/liter or $2.84/gallon.

No serious attempt has been made to estimate the total cost of free roads (nor will one be made here) but it likely runs into the trillions. For example, consider the sums likely spent by the federal government on building the interstate highway system. One partial estimate of this expense—which excludes many important federal highways and does not include maintenance or expansions, or, of course, state, county, and local roads—exceeds half a trillion dollars in 2019 dollars, calculated from 2006 dollars using the Consumer Price Index (“CPI”) Inflation Calculator published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.220 Meanwhile, of the amount spent on local (noninterstate) roads in one recent year ($39.65 billion in 2019 dollars, calculated from 2002 dollars using the CPI Inflation Calculator), 89% was paid by the general taxpayer and only 11% by motorists themselves. At this rate, state and local governments would spend half a trillion dollars on roads every thirteen years.

Yes, but you didn’t consider how much it costs society when you drive an EV which causes some oil exec’s blood pressure to spike!
