    In theory, it can also be used by the recommendation algorithm to show you less such videos. Who knows if it’s actually used like that though.

      I think it’s even the other way around. If you dislike, you interacted with the video, be it because it made you furious or what ever. The algorithm cares about engagement, not about liking. At least that’s what I have heard

        Rather than hitting dislike, I will hit “do not recommend this video” or “do not recommend this channel”.

        After a couple of months of doing that, and of giving thumbs up to videos I do like, YouTube finally permanently got the hint about my tastes and stopped recommending a lot of user-engagement-bait to me.
