I sometimes sort by new, but generally I sort by the default active.
I do. I prefer not seeing the same posts every time, especially when they’re mostly just memes.
I sort by new because there’s not that much content (at least not being served to me). If I sort by active I end up seeing the same stuff for days.
Because “New in All” is like a vision into the great abyss.
I do. Back on reddit, the rate of new content was enough that hot was effectively new with a quality filter. Around the end of June, when reddit pulled the api shit and people were just starting to jump ship, lemmy was a lot smaller and had less content. So if you sorted by active or hot, you would always end up seeing the same 2-year-old posts at the top every time. I set my default sort to new so that I would actually see different posts.
I sort Risa by new so I can see the freshest Star Trek memes from Stamets and The Picard Maneuver.
If you use all new it’s still about half Stamets, I don’t think there would be any meme communities here without Stamets posts.
Because I’ll be one of the first people engaging with the posts.
I do pretty much all the time. Why? Because I like to keep up with the latest posts - and so the news and stories they relate to. It seems a bit odd to ask ‘why’ really.
I always stick with ‘subscribed’, of course. I have no idea what ‘new’ and ‘all’ would look like.
To get more content. What kind of question is this?
Because new is more interesting.
I am not interested in computer and tech stuff so 95% of lemmy’s content is on my block list.
That way, sorting by new is the only feasible way to browse.I do, every time. What I’ve subbed to doesn’t have a huge volume of posts, so to see anything new daily I sort by new. Otherwise there’s just not enough going on here.
Once I’ve checked out what TopSixHour and NewComments have to offer, sure.
I forgot I had selected new.
New, always.
I do. More variety more often.
