Maddisons now out for a few months, Udogie and Romero out for a bit, City coming up. Ultimately I don’t think they have the squad depth to keep the charge going.

But sure they undoubtedly had a good run but I guess people were right, City are inevitable…

    Udogie & Romero suspended.

Van de Ven & Maddison out until after Christmas.

What an utterly disastrous Monday night that defeat to Chelsea was. Could be season defining.

Could’ve been a lot worse if Jackson converted more of his chances, although I thought you lot played well even with 2 men down…there is nothing about that loss to be ashamed of imo

People will say “but it almost paid off” but you have to realise Anges’ tactical naivety here. Nine times out of ten premier league teams will have a field day with a high line like that against 9 men, it was only our shocking performance in the final third that meant it wasn’t a total embarrassment. He’s said he’s gonna keep playing that way but imo there is a need for pragmatism to win trophies and if he won’t show it then, when will he?

This match was just another example of why Spurs don’t win shit. Even when they were playing decent for 15 minutes and went a goal up they lost their heads and honestly threw that game. If they hadn’t had a good run of form until then, people would be talking about it like the disastrous performance it actually was. Enjoy your spirit and character trophy lol.

He had 6 shots and 3 goals… 50%. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that pretty normal for a ST?

Oh yeah there’s no shame at all, we clapped the players off the pitch. Gave it everything we were just undone by a combo of individual mistakes and injuries. These things happen

          I disagree…

Chelsea had lost two matches already this season to a 10 men side. Tottenham could have set up a low block and still hit Chelsea on the counter.

But instead played a high line and probably factored in to Udogie getting a second yellow.

The high line against a team that hasn’t once broke down a low block yet this season is questionable.

Honestly though watching spurs with 9 defend that well for so long was really cool. They were out there working their asses off (after a point they had to chase the game and it got away from them as it does).

Only way it’d have gone worse for spurs is if it happened in a game vs Arsenal

Honestly trying to remember the last time we were hit this hard with injuries and suspensions.

Perisic, Solomon, Sessegnon, Bentancur, Maddison, Van de Ven, Johnson, Richarlison, Gil, & Romero will now all have missed a month+ either through injury or suspension (Romero) by December.

This is the reason we thought it would take multiple windows for spurs to compete. Super unlucky to be hit everywhere at once, but depth will be needed before there’s a season long title charge

I think the style of play can contribute. Udogie’s two yellow cards are due to him stretching to stop an attack because the defense was so stretched when they lost possession. I would even argue Van De Ven’s hamstring injury could be exacerbated from constant start stop sprints.

Not to say this style isn’t worth trying, but it needs either whatever Klopp’s doctor is injecting into his players or way more players who can rotate in and out.

i agree to a point, udogies mistake are not because of the system its due to him being young and only being exposed to this system for an extremely short time. it took him many months last year to play well in that system and that system was basic in serie A. udogie needs a lot of time to learn, he’s super yong after all. We need to give him time.

Also VDV has been covering for romeros mistakes and aggressive play, as even the commentators noticed every game romero gets caught up high and VDV has to sprint back to cover the mistakes. I loved romero but i really feel like he isnt right for anges system, his overly aggressive/dirty play is counter productive. i think he can be sold for a ton to a Bundesliga team and we can maybe use that cash plus, to get another defender like Perr Schuurs, or bremer, or tapsoba.

Imo Van De Ven, got screwed by VAR. Everyone was cooled off and then hot again with all the time they spent down.

Definitrly all plays a factor. But those VAR time outs did no favours to van de vens hamstrings. So much idle time between sprints

I agree it’s and intense playing style. But surely you aren’t suggesting that we shouldn’t be playing aggressive football or this is somehow negligence from Ange. (I’ve seen other people suggest that, and it’s quite ridiculous, ask any of the players, and probably half of the players on other teams, they would like to play the way Ange does).
