Could have gotten Gakpo for less than half. According to Ajax fans assists and goals were not the right metrics to judge him though. That’s becoming more hilarious each weekend.

Because we are United so usually are made overpay.

And then most importantly we are idiots and throw money at players no one else are bidding for cause we don’t know how to negotiate

Yeah, we also didn’t do anything until deadline day, it’s like we spent all summer thinking if we should get Antony or Gakpo. Ajax wanted like 70-80m Euro if I remember it correctly, we didn’t give them that and then we panic bought him on deadline day for that ridiculous amount because we hadn’t signed anyone in that position. Even 70-80m Euro would have been way too much.

And we also definitely picked the wrong player, Gakpo would have been a way better transfer but our management are just idiots.

It’s pretty mad. City got Doku for €35m less and he’s always been rated much higher. Ten Hag must’ve seen things in training with Ajax that nobody else did because apparently United’s scouts had already watched him and thought he wasn’t good enough.

I think United just throw massive money at players to make a statement regardless of whether they are worth the money or would actually fit into their team structure. Di María, Pogba, Cristiano (not a high transfer fee, granted) and Sancho all fit those criteria.
