Just one day after 404’s piece on Proton CEO Andy Yen’s AI psychosis, and much public sneering of the matter… those pending ‘re-interviews’ on staff’s submission to slop apparently won’t be happening. But Yen is still an all-in slopbro, so.

Meanwhile, over on reddit, Proton has launched a bot-assisted astroturfing campaign to refute the spreading narrative. It takes the form of a missive from a “staff engineer” who’s shocked and angry at how much his dear CEO has been clipped out of context.

In the first 10 minutes after the post went live, it had dozens of comments from posters saying things like, “Wow! Thank you for the truth!”

Five hours later the post’s upvote counter is over 3k.

    Totally fake PR damage control.

The only way for them to even start redeeming themselves to to get rid of Yen, and walk back this tokenmaxxing bullshit.

The only thing that would really prevent me from migrating to greener pastures is if they stop collaborating with the Zionist Swiss University that support Israels military.

Worthless maneouver at this point, the mask is off already. The guy has exposed his extreme toxicity, nobody (employees or customers) will trust him again.

Which is embarrassing. When you’re the CEO of the upstart, you have to have as spotless of an image as possible. He clearly isn’t cut out for the job. Not that it matters anymore, Proton may very well be toast at this point.

The interviews are still happening, they’ve just been delayed as public damage control, it’s in the article.

I’ll give you partial credit… I was curious, since cancelled and delayed would be pretty distinct, this is what I saw in the article…

Another employee said, after Proton canceled the re-interviews, “They said in the next breath they want to continue pushing AI and that the things that were to be measured in the re-interviews would become a component of the performance reviews.”

So still cancelled, but proton is pushing chat box use pretty hard.

Keep cancelling your renewals for anything proton. It’s absolutely a metric they are closely monitoring. The sooner you do, the stronger the signal it sends that the CEO is the problem

Right? The interviews were the least of the new problems. I know I’m not going back unless he’s completely out and even then… Once I’m done migrating it’ll be hard to make me come back.

The longer they take to actually do something, the more users they permanently lose.

We didn’t just shame them, we hit them in the wallet.

When I canceled my account, the cancel interface showed typical signs of being overwhelmed with the traffic it was experiencing.

Good. Fuck that management. Oust them and give the company to the people who actually do work.
