All you have to do is show enough people their most-egregious aweful, or even evil, behavior, in ways that go viral, and make accountability bite them…

You’ll be blacklisted by all their friends, though, as part of the price you pay for doing it…

such is the consequence of being born into already-established designer/decorator feudalism…

maintain appearances, or you’ll be hurt, right?

    • Nestlé: identify competitors and use their products. Eg Semper for baby food, or chocolate brands that support the cocoa farmers.
    • Amazon: buy directly from the stores instead of via amazon. Urge businesses to use e.g. hetzner instead of aws
    • Google: use other search engines, use YouTube with Adblock so they don’t earn revenue on your streaming (consider supporting creators via other platforms)
    • Apple: buy competitor products
    • Disney: don’t use Disney products
    • BlackRock: no clue lol

Become president, collapse the dollar and the economy, turn all allies against you, start wars with no benefit or obvious endgame, get the rest of the world to start a program of “Buy not-America”, wait a few years for new programs and businesses to start in foreign nations, have sanctions placed against you for being a bad neighbor, watch your local and international businesses collapse.

    🤞

Connect with other people and no longer be a single individual fighting this fight. Reveal to others why you think those are evil companies, encourage them to boycott them, build a community of likeminded people, use this to influence politics or become politically active yourself.

And then hundreds of thousands of people are out of work at no fault of their own.

All these companies can go fuck themselves but I think of the individuals who are employed by them so they can survive.

Yeh except 100,000s of people will all be at the unemployment centre all looking for the same jobs that don’t exist and have even less money. Look at the bigger picture than just your own bias.

I’m not FOR these companies but there would be a massive negative flow on effect for so many people if someone came along and shut them all down in an instant.

Those jobs won’t actually go away.

There’s still demand for the products they’re producing and such like.

It just won’t be Nestle or whoever signing the checks.

Do you think Nestle just makes it and people are like “oh. alright guess I’ll just buy this?” ?

they produce the stuff they do because there’s demand for those products. If nestle stopped bottling water and selling it at inflated prices while being shitheels… someone else will step in to meet the demand that exists.

they may also be shit heels. they may not. but those jobs will largely still exist… and probably still suck.

This is literally the origin of the term “the customer is always right.” Imagine you create the world’s most perfect product. It is truly revolutionary. It meaningfully improves your customers’ lives, it is easy to manufacture and get to your customers, it is cheap, and it is durable. It is all of the things that a perfect product should be. And you have a competitor. This is a bad imitation. It’s more expensive, it’s less durable, it’s worse at what it does, and it’s more difficult to manufacture.

And yet, the competitor is consistently selling out, while you struggle to sell enough to make ends meet. Even though your product is better in every measurable way, you are selling the wrong product. The customer is always right, and in this example the customer wants the shitty (and more expensive) version. It doesn’t matter how good your product is in comparison. The customer is the ultimate driving force behind whether or not you’ll be able to sell anything, and is therefore always right. If you insist on selling your perfect (but unmarketable) version, it isn’t the customer’s fault when you go bankrupt. It is your fault for trying to defy the customer.

And you know what companies like Nestle, Amazon, etc are really good at? Finding what customers want. And yes, the customer tends to be stupid and short-sighted. But the customer is always right.

They’re doing that, but they’re also making it work with bribes, buying out the competition, selling products below cost until the competition goes bankrupt, hidden costs via data siphoning (with and without the customer’s knowledge) etc.

Not sure that’s a great way to put it though. If the only reason Nestle produces water is because there is a market to buy it, then getting rid of Nestle does nothing for the core issue and some other ‘evil’ would step in to fill the void. Typically by the action OP is looking for, Nestle would go away and water would be ‘free’.
