When I had the idea for “haunted zombies” everyone laughed at me. Maybe because mine would be a crappy horror movie.

The final line of the hypothetical makes it seem like they realize they have a lot in common because they are fragments/aspects cloned off after the original person died. But why would the zombie retain any aspect of the person, if ghosts exist? Is it positing a universe where human consciousness is the result of a twin-entity, spirit and body, copiloting the consciousness? Unless it’s an entirely new person piloting the ghost’s old corpse in zombitude. (Not even getting into why the ghost wouldn’t recognize their own body, unless the flesh has melted off.)

At this point, though, we’re mired in real Corpse of She-seus territory. And, it doesn’t seem like there is much space/reason for the shared origin to cause much pause in the relationship. It’s on the level of finding out you went to the same college or secondary school.

All the rules for ghosts and zombies are made up and nonsensical given current scientific understandings. It just depends on what the writer decides:

      • Maybe it’s that the soul that created the ghost is mirrored in the physical brain, which has a decayed copy of the living person that’s since diverged from the soul
      • Maybe being bound to earth causes the ghost to forget its past
      • Maybe the ghost is more of a shadow of the person than a soul detached from the body
      • Maybe the zombie is a supernatural force piloting a dead body to do its bidding, with only small fragments of the original mind poking through
      • Maybe the author really doesn’t care which it is because the relationship is the only thing that really matters

The soul and the mind were once thought to be one and the same, while many didn’t think the brain to be related to either. The fun part about these concepts in the modern day is that we can make them whatever we want them to be.

But who in 358/2 Days are they talking about? Roxas isn’t a girl and Xion technically isn’t Sora’s soul, just a replica. Or am I missing something?

Accurate as fuck. Probably the best Kingdom Hearts story. I’m still disappointed they only remade the cutscenes and not the full game.

Holy fuck a KH post on Fedi AND it’s about yuri?!?! I might die and go to heaven.

Anyway KH yuri is truly immaculate (tbh the potential queerness of KH characters in general is off the charts. I mean Xion’s whole existence is just. I love her.) and I could rant about character relationships and interactions in the series for 358/2 days 😍

    Edit:

    Tumblr rant moment

I went to go look up the blog (fishing-lesbian-princess) so I could reblog the post and the OG blog is gone because Tumblr won’t stop their fucking transphobic bullshit. They’ve been randomly terminating the blogs of trans people (and censoring/marking posts about POC and/or trans people) and it’s fucking ridiculous.

I truly wish Fedi could become more appealing to creatives because I literally only have Tumblr as my last non-decentralized social media that I have an account on. The art and fandom culture is the onky reason I fucking stay there.

Anyway, for anyone who wants to find them, their new blog is fishing-princess
